And Hal, the rootless hippie life coach and Wendy’s best friend. Into this combustible mix walks Chad, a nature photographer who forces the old friends into uncomfortable situations that reveal long buried secrets and cause the group to re-examine their relationships over the course of the weekend.
The story of a group of friends who reunite for their annual 4th of July weekend only to be confronted by Chad, a strange and beautiful nature photographer who begins to change their lives one by one.

Really Great MovieI watched this film at the Nantucket Film Festival and I must say.... Really a fantastic watch. So impressed by the cast on this one! Especially Amy Smart. You get to watch a disfunctional group of people interact with one another, mirrored with the philosphical conquest of Ravens. The cinematography alone is worth the watch! Definitely buy this and watch it at home, or go see it on the silver screen - You certainly won't be disappointed!.Score: 5/5
Among RavensWow !! In a summer season filled yet again with predictable rehashed and boring franchise flicks, FINALLY something original !! Among Ravens succeeds where many films attempt to go only to fail. Directed by Russell Friedenberg Ravens is fast moving AND poetic. This is a date movie that will satisfy both guy and girl. Ravens has all the relationship drama women love while being consistently infused with the intensity guys love to see in a movie. Grab your girl and check this one out. You'll both be happy you did !!.Score: 5/5
Beautiful FilmThe emotional conflict of this film could be felt from the very beginning. While I had no idea what was going to happen, I was curious about how the relationships between this combustible family came to be. They did not disappoint and I was amazed at the complexity of the characters. Not to mention Johnny Sequoyah did a phenomenal job at playing the lovable Joey. This film had an overall great combination of tenderness and bitterness and was not only beautiful in terms of the characters, but had stunning cinematography and scenery as well. Highly recommend it!.Score: 4/5
What a beautiful film! The trailer for this film is what really made me want to see it. Even though I still wasn’t quite sure what to expect out of it, I was so pleasantly surprised by this movie! I won’t say too much to avoid spoiling anything for any potential viewers, but what beautiful cinematography and touching stories! I especially liked Will McCormack’s performance – I had only seen him in one film prior in which he had a minor role, but he really blew me away in Among Ravens. Can’t wait to see more of him. Amy Smart’s performance was incredibly memorable as well. I’d highly recommend this movie to really anyone. And even if (for some reason) you don’t see it for the story, at least see it for the absolutely gorgeous nature shots. It will definitely be worth your while..Score: 5/5
An interesting movieCinematography-wise, Among Ravens was a gorgeous film. The location they chose was great, and it was just very visual. A lot of the focus was on nature and the outdoors as much as it was about the conflicts between the characters, which I though tied in nicely with the parallels Johnny Sequoyah's character, Joey, was making between people (specifically her family) and ravens. Plot-wise it had a lot going on; all of the characters seemed to have their own issues and dramas that were revealed at different times, and the relationships between the characters were all pretty complicated (and at times confusing). I thought that Saul King's story thread was really interesting in particular, and both Joey and Chad (Will McCormack) were very sympathetic characters, whose friendship was probably my favorite part of the movie. Overall it was an enjoyable film..Score: 4/5
Most people are nice when you finally see themAmong Ravens is a quiet, contemplative sort of film that builds up to an ending that will leave you reconsidering your treatment of people you’ve often considered “strange.” Johnny Sequoyah gives a simply moving performance, accompanied by the talented Will McCormack, whose character befriends hers early on in the movie in a friendship that’s reminiscent of Boo Radley and Scout’s connection in To Kill a Mockingbird, albeit further developed. The two of them are surrounded by a lively cast of characters who are attempting to sort out their own lives as they reunite for Fourth of July weekend, while also reacting to Will McCormack’s character’s unexpected arrival within their group. The cinematography is beautiful, I’d never known Idaho could be so picturesque, but it was filmed with a love and care that certainly shines throughout the entire movie..Score: 4/5
Family Dysfunction on SteroidsGreat film. A good portrayal of a dysfunctional family and critique of modern materialism and selfishness. The characters are memorable and stand out distinctly from one another. Nice symbolism of using birds to reflect aspects of human nature. Well-choreographed and with a great soundtrack..Score: 4/5
SOO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!LOVED IT! .. I read all of the critic reviews and they were so bad that I had to watch for myself. I bought on ITunes and also went to see in Theater on the big screen .. Honestly .. the critics must all be paid off by the studio’s because I don’t agree with ANY of them. I mean the film definitely beats to it’s own drum .. but that is what i love about it. I love films that are different, that make you think, bring you in to each character and feel what they feel. I walked out of the theater crying it moved me so much. It was really beautiful. Beautifully shot, and that Johnny Sequoia is unreal .. I couldn’t keep my eyes off of her. WELL DONE ALL AROUND!!!.Score: 5/5
What a great film!I had no idea what to expect when I sat down to see this film, but I was very impressed. I was delighted to see one of my favorite actresses, Amy Smart, and although I haven’t heard much about them I was very impressed with Will McCormack and Johnny Sequoyah. I really, really loved the relationship between their characters. The story was very different, and enjoyed how the writer incorporated the ravens theme. And I would have never guessed this was shot in Idaho. All of the characters are very well developed, and when paired with the beauty of Idaho, it makes for a wonderful movie..Score: 5/5
A dysfunctional delight of comedy and drama.I enjoyed this film. A fresh twist on the "reunion of friends" sub genre. A quirky group of friends get together for the weekend, narrated through the wisdom of a young girl, Joey. So much could be learned from the honest insight of a child, if only these characters weren't so caught up in their crazy and crumbling lives. I loved Chad, the eccentric and awkward nature photographer. The bond he forms with Joey drives the story as they watch the tragic comedy unfold. The metaphors of ravens, cinematography and music score strike the perfect mood. Standout performances by Will McCormack (Chad) and Johnny Sequoyah (Joey). Also notable, Joshua Leonard and the always lovely, Amy Smart..Score: 5/5
