Save you money peopleFirst off let me say that this review will be beyond one line which most reviewers for this show seem incapable of surpassing. Secondly, I was sadly disappointed with the show. The military channel usually has amazing documentaries but Weaponology falls far short of good T.V. The show never moves past the Vietnam war era which is incredibly frustrating. Don’t get me wrong, that time in history was marked with brave men who did amazing things; but it is, after all, history. Personally I would appreciate seeing some modern SEALs who are on active duty instead of all the old retired geezers who saw combat 30+ years ago. Worse still, most of the narration is done but freakin civilians who sit around firing weapons and try to sound like experts. Trust me…they’re not. In short, the show’s cheesy one liners and poor construction has not inspired me to go buy the rest of the episodes. If you want to see what truly makes US Navy SEAls the best SF unit in the world, go watch the Discovery Channel’s documentary of BUD/S. Hoped this helped..Score: 1/5
DisappointingHaving never seen any episodes from the Weaponology series, and as a former SF trooper, I decided to try Green Berets to form my opinion of the series. Based on the Green Berets episode alone, I have to say I'm very disappointed-- it could have been a great episode. The history that is provided is somewhat inaccurate, the same video clips are reran numerous times, too much emphasis is placed on a minor (though unique) period of time at SFQC ("Q Course") involving the Robin Sage FTX, and the interviews are all of former SF personnel, who can only provide perspectives that are out of date. Some of these same personnel are also providing personal opinions (of weapons and other matters) that don't reflect ASOC doctrine or training (as I've experienced or read it). Why didn't the producers/director contact Army or SOCOM Public Affairs to get interviews with current personnel? I've been out of the SF loop for a few yerars, but I know that Army SF has underwent many changes just in the last several years, not just since 9/11. Based on this one episode, I think I'll pass on the remaining episodes of the Weaponology series. BTW: the video game graphics, which are far too common in this episode, are a crappy substitute for actual film coverage..Score: 1/5
NO DELTA FORCE?Great Show! Really fun to watch, but No Delta Force? Why? Delta force is the Army's most hardcore Special Force. They are tougher then the Navy Seals! That was a mini let down, because I have had the honor to workout with Members of Delta, and there was a 95% failure rate. That was tough, and I had to workout with the Rangers as a ROTC Cadet. Any way I'm getting off topic now. Great show, really interesting, buy it..Score: 4/5
Pretty AwesomeThis show is not only interesting but entertaining as well. If you like history and anything that has to do with the military, then you will not be disappointed in this show. Or if your military and weapons interest is very limited and particular, then you can't go wrong with this show as there is a wide range of shows to choose from.
