Star Trek Voyager: Season 5My favorite captain is Capt. Janeway. Of the Series I would have to say that Season 5 was my favorite. STV is my favorite of the Star Trek Series because of the sense of family that is fully developed. Voyager is their home. I often muse about the time after Voyager gets home. The best season Voyager made. With fantastic stories that drive character development, this is where the crew now with Seven and not Kes begin to shine. It starts off with a wonderful Janeway centric, Night. A story of what life is like for the crew during the boring months being 70 thousand light years from home and just how far the captain will go to right her wrongs. It's another episode that shows than even the captain isn't infallible. Other greats are Timeless, a Chakotay and Kim episode; infinite Regress, a heartfelt Seven story that truly shows Jeri Ryan's acting range; Gravity, a Tuvok story that really fleshes out my favorite Vulcan; Latent Image, a well written Doctor centric about the doctor's version of the Kobayashi Maru; Course: Oblivion, a sad but amazing story of a doomed Voyager; Relativity, a interesting take on the time travel paradox theory; Warhead, a Kim centric story of a 'man' on a mission and the ensign's try at keeping the suicidal person from blowing up. My absolute favorite, of perhaps even the series, is Bliss. A doctor, Naomi, and Seven story of an obsessed crew thinking a ancient nebula sized creature who runs on instinct to mentally ensnare it's prey is a wormhole. It also brings in a favorite Star Trek longtime guest star, W. Morgan Sheppard in a fantastic parody of Captain Ahab with the delightfully salty and eccentric Qatai, a mean old alien who had lost his family, also NGOs with a thousand others of his species to the thing 40 years prior and has since doggedly tried to kill his white whale. The brilliance of the roll has that fastidious nature of ahab and the swagger and story telling of Robert Shaw's Quint in Jaws. The last line from him still stirs something in me to this day. "Don't worry about me. Just get your ship home." It's on par to next season's 6x10 Pathfinder: "Keep a docking bay open for us. We hope to see you...". All in all amazing, but this doesn't mean there weren't any misses, 11:59 was not particularly interesting to me and sad to say probably my least favorite in the entire series... Apart from salamander warp 10 bit. There are a few others that felt disjointed but overall the fun ones make you forget like the goofball Bride of Chaotica, that you just laugh at because your meant to enjoy the ride. Beyond that this also sets up the most intense and interesting two parter of the show, even better than Scorpion, the final episode of the season: Equinox. It brings in not only a new fresh, if somewhat jaded, perspective of the delta quadrant to us, in addition to bringing it back full circle to Night, that even though Janeway hasn't always picked the best course of action, she could always have done far worse. John Savage played a brilliant foil to Janeway as Ransom, saying the means justified the reasons while Janeway for the majority of her time as captain is about the reasons justifying the means. It is also the first time since Voyager sent the doctor to the Prometheus that we've gotten to see another starfleet vessel. All and all, one of the best seasons with my favorite episodes, and despite a few bad ones the majority make it worth the price..Score: 5/5
