Such a great showThis show is a jewel. The writing is excellent, the characters so wonderful, and the portrayal of post war London is compelling. One very quickly becomes part of the "family" at the convent, laughing and crying together with the nuns, the midwives and their friends and patients. Chummy and PC Noakes meet with new challenges as they settle back down to life in Poplar. Fred is in high spirits when his pregnant daughter, Dolly, and her young son Anthony arrive to stay with him. However, in the outside world of Poplar, the winds of change are blowing with old buildings being demolished to make new way for new apartments, a situation which reaches crisis point when the convent comes under threat.
