Exploring every realm of popular parody, The Flintstones delighted kids but tickled adults just as much with howlingly funny takeoffs of "trendy" TV shows like Bewitched (with the voices of Elizabeth Montgomery and Dick York in Samantha), award-winning movies (My Fair Freddy and The Treasure of Sierra Madrock) and kitschy spoofs of Hollywood royalty in “The Return of Stoney Curtis.” The show's writers even had the foresight to project into the future, as in “The Long Long Long Weekend,” guest-starring the series' newest (and greenest) character, space alien The Great Gazoo (voiced by Harvey Korman).

Season Six Is the Point of No ReturnBy the time the sixth and final season of "The Flintstones" reached the air, it was no longer the "adult cartoon" it was billed as back when the series first premiered. The series really jumped the shark with the arrival of the Great Gazoo, a character that felt seemingly out of place in the Stone Age setting. It seemed that Hanna-Barbera was too focused on entertaining the kids, and the result of this strategy turned off many of the adults who enjoyed the show just a few years earlier. The following year would see the show airing on NBC's Saturday morning lineup, thus completing the show's transformation from adult-oriented sitcom to kiddie cartoon..Score: 2/5
