Great in its timeI'm more of a Clint Eastwood expert than a John Wayne connoisseur, however I do have great respect for the Duke. Being of a later generation, I thought that some of the scenes and some dialogue were a little off or exagerated to fit stereotypes. On the other hand, I was amazed by the scenery: you don't get to see the Texas west in other movies like you can in this one. I also appreciated the story set up and the sense of dedication the protagonist develop. I must admit I missed Mr. Wayne's transformation from a hard man to a more compasionate one since it seems to happen suddenly. On the other hand, I was impressed by the fact that despite having a movie with a low tone when it comes to violence, it still managed to give me chills when hearing about the many atrocities people had to endure in those times. If I could of given it a 3 and a half star, I would of, since I was glad to have seen it once..Aylmer90Score: 3/5
