Extremely fun and engaging a cross between Downton and Mr SelfridgeAs a man I had my doubts as to whether I would enjoy a show about a teenage queen. However the history buff in me was enthralled by the complexity a 19th century British monarch was forced to endure. Jenna Coleman was a delightful Queen Victoria and Rufus Sewell played Lord Melbourne with an air of endearment and protection towards the vulnerable young queen that it was difficult to comprehend how they could be anything but a wonderful couple, yet he it so caring and tender towards her that he places his duty above all else. The scenery and dialogue is magnificent. I only wish there were many more episodes. This show displayed the emotional depth of the fictional Downton Abbey combined with the historical reality of Mr. Selfridge. The end result is a masterpiece well worthy of the title Masterpiece Theater..Score: 5/5

Love the show, butI adore this show, but there is one MAJOR thing I don't like. First, the good things: the cast for the most part are excellent. Victoria herself is well cast as well, and we see the friction between herself and her mother (and John Conroy). Finally, the costumes are beautiful! Now for the bad. And it's a BIG problem: Alfred. The last time I checked, the historical Alfred was NOT a whiny b!tch. No, really, I am getting fed up with his moaning that he "needs a place of his own." For God's sake dude, the real Alfred immediately started working on government affairs, so much so that he and his wife had an argument about him going too far! If the next episode contains more b!tching and moaning, I am NOT buying any more episodes until the problem is fixed. Because this version of Alfred needs to grow up!.Score: 4/5

Absolutely Amazing ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️If I could give it 10/10 you bet I would!! What a fabulous series!! The actors are sublime, capturing the authentic essence of the larger than life characters each of them plays! (after the 1st episode, I had to pick my jaw up off the floor! The dialogue & emotionally charged relationships between each of the characters had my heart beating out of my chest! The writers have captivated us, somehow drawing us in emotionally! They have the audience "feeling" what their feeling, almost as if we were inside the characters themselves!! Quite an extraordinary feat for any series/production (be it - theatre, movies, music or television). The costumes look like they came off a high budget movie! They're absolutely dazzling! The cinematography is out of this world!! The landscapes, the palaces, gardens, horses, lighting, props and overall styling is spectacular!! One of the many things that make this series look and feel authentic is - while walking down a corridor inside the palace walls, the cameras capture the 'dustiness' in the air so much so that you need not imagine what it may have looked like back in that day and age, but rather, you can almost "feel" it - "smell" that staleness in the air, just by watching it for yourself! They've done such an extraordinarily good job at making all of the viewers' senses come to life!! Truly Outstanding!! I honestly can't praise this series enough!! If you enjoy period piece dramas and care for a dazzling rendition of Queen Victoria's reign - you've definitely hit the jackpot 👍 This is by far one of the most beautifully crafted Masterpiece series' that I've ever had the pleasure of watching (more like submerging myself back in time 😉) I cannot recommend this series strongly enough!!
