Westworld: Deus Ex Machina*Semi-spoiler warning* Visually beautiful, but plot is all over the place, should be called Westworld: Deus Ex Machina, not only would the term suit the theme of the show but it’s a term used for a form of writing that is lazy and incoherent. Where the plot loses its credibility by killing off or nearly killing off characters, and bringing them back. I’m mostly writing this review because I’ve loved the first season so much, there was definitely a heart and soul to season 1, and a brain..this season seems to have lost that, no doubt to be more reductive for mass consumption in an industry populated with marvel superheroes and transformer androids... I would have to say that episode 7 and 8 are the redeeming episodes of this season with the finale being a total disappointment, and makes me hope the writers really try to make a cohesive season whenever season 3 might come out..Score: 3/5

Jonah Nolan is back at it.With Season 2, we get to see more of the creativity of Jonah Nolan, brother to the genius Chris Nolan. Though he doesn't reach the heights of his brother he can be force of nature for writing and a catalyst of ideas like we saw from him in Season 1, and the movies of the Dark Knight Trilogy and Interstellar. Giant disappointment in season 2Season 1 took a fairly complex subject and turned it into an interesting Hollywood style storyline. The characters were for the most part interesting and there was enough meat in the storyline to provide some suspense. So I enjoyed it enough to buy season 2. What... happened... here? What an awful sophmore season. Many of the returning characters were the more annoying ones from season 1, the story is much more predictable and now the show has started to get into issues that while philosophically interesting do not make for good entertainment. No waiting for season 3 from me. No intention of ever watching this again..Score: 2/5

Quite impressedI'll say it: Season 2 not only does a very nice job of following up on the first, but it's better. The story arc, even when things seem to be wandering off the path, is more consistent and coherent than in season 1 -- more philosophical and even metaphysical, less confused mumbo jumbo. Two episodes that superficially seem to be digressions, 5 and 8, actually add depth and meaning to the overall -- and the story in episode 8, a Native American spin on the Orpheus myth, is downright beautiful. The last episode, unfortunately, is a bit of a confusing mess -- not unlike season 1 -- which, even at its length and deliberate pace, seems to be in a bit of a rush to tie together all the narrative lines of the season (well, most of them) while also hinting at several directions season 3 might go. It's too much. Simpler might have been better. Still, overall, I think it's very good tv, better than season 1, and full of promise for the next..Score: 4/5

It’s a tv show that appeases audiences who seek true worth, for something stimulating, something immersive, rather than cheap guilty pleasures. So rich are character storylines (individuals and relationships alike) that you will feel unequivocally true to them, and how everything ties up so perfectly is simply beautiful. I dare say it’ll be very hard, if not impossible, to beat Westworld’s knack for season finales; I can still feel the catharsis I experienced on both occasions as I sit writing. Needless to say, the cinematography is fabulous, with the settings within the show so visually pleasing. I challenge anyone to match what Westworld offers on an intellectual and mind-boggling level.
