GenericTo preface this, I haven’t watched the full series. I could only get through the first couple episodes. If you are a Halo fan this is not for you. In the first episode John takes his helmet off and it pretty much stays off for good. This sounds ridiculous I know. As a Halo fan, John rarely takes his helmet off. It allows players to imagine as if they were him, but there’s another aspect that Halo 4 kinda played with a little bit. John never taking his helmet off is symbolic of who he is. War is all he’s ever known, and he’s borderline robotic about it. The first Halo game even described him as a cyborg (technically he was altered through scientific means in the books). This would’ve been amazing to build on. First showing is how robotic and desensitized he is to War, but then showing his humanity. Growing him as a character while showing his past and what he endured, and telling a compelling story that makes the viewer want to continue to watch. This is none of that. It’s so generic and such a letdown. You can tell the writers care more about making a show that appeals to everyone while removing anything that would make it unique and make the viewer want to stick around. Please don’t watch this. It’s a huge letdown as a Halo fan, but it’s also a letdown as a sci-fi fan..Score: 1/5
Offensively horribleThis show was horrible. Writers literally announced they purposely didn’t pay attention to the storyline of Halo, nor cared about adding to the universe. The result it this horrible show. Master Cheek’s face is revealed, which is a big “no-no” and so are his butt cheeks for some stupid reason. The acting is horrible. Writing is horrible. Can’t get enough of it!I’ve watched this series a few times now. And am currently watching it again. It’s hands down the best adaptation of halo so far. While not perfect, it’s still amazing and they did very well with it. Great story line. Special effects are meh but good enough. The cast is great. They all do a awsome job. Best of all they actually focus on master chief. Unlike prior movies. Pablo does an amazing job. If you read this Pablo, we’ll done sir. Don’t give up on the series. It has super great potential. OK but...As others have mentioned, episode 1-4 are good and then episode 5 makes no sense because the previously shown was not seen by anyone. There are 9 episodes in season 1, it is like there should have been 10 but one was withdrawn. In any case, this show was a tad dissapointing but still enjoyable. The post production was terrible in telling the story arc. The CG was so so, the acting was good, the story was convoluted and a jumbled mess. Lets hope season 2 fixes these glaring issues..Score: 3/5

Missing an episodeThe season is good as you’d expect. A little less action than I thought but overall it’s good. Unfortunately there seems to be an episode missing between episodes 4 and 5. The recap at the beginning of episode 5 is about things that aren’t part of episodes 1-4, and episode 5 starts off as if those things occurred. It’s okay for a halo fanHuge fan of Halo, whether it’s been the previous movies, games, or books, there’s a lot of great story in Halo across the board. With that said, I think the TV series is okay. I can understand the direction they’re going to appeal to a larger audience who may or may not know of Halo, but because they’re so far off the actual stories the character development and character choices start to become questionable to me and somewhat unbelievable and out of character. They could’ve just stuck with some of the origin stories in the books (like Lord of the Rings) and it would’ve probably ended better than rewriting some of the history and events to something brand new. I would rebuy the series again as I’m a fan, and maybe season 2; maybe not 3 if the series continues down this road. Why rewrite the story if an amazing backstory already exists behind the games?.Score: 3/5

Watchable but wrong orderFor context I have never played a Halo game so I am coming to this series with no preconceptions or bias. The series is fine if a little slow. The actors are alright apart from the guy playing Master Chief who is so devoid of charisma and personality that he could get killed off and it wouldn’t bother me at all. The CGI is a little… off at times, especially with Cortana who is very cartoonish. I get it may be to please the fans of the games but it doesn't fit in the series aesthetic well. I have to say its worth a watch but the series is out of order on Itunes with episode 8 placed as episode 5. The halo games sold well due to the great story but paramount decided to change everything, they kept the name and the aesthetics but none of the main characters or what happened are the same as the game. this show was made because of Halo fans like myself asking for a halo film or show for over a decade, and when they make it they betray the existing fan base and provide nothing but disappointment..Score: 1/5
