The Big Day when Jimmy hands out the annual bonuses has arrived. And after he's cautioned against having an affair with anyone at work, and particularly Lisa, Dave is saddled with the responsibility of deciding this year's bonuses. Explaining how he motivates with paranoia and fear, Jimmy says that everyone should get $400 except for two. One gets "the big bonus" of $3,000, while the other gets "the shaft, " or nothing. Not wanting to be "shafted" for the fourth year in a row, Matthew pleads his case with Dave, while Lisa is convinced she's getting the big bonus to make up for not being made news director. Dave suggests that no one get "the shaft" this year. But Jimmy won't accept any changes in the policy and offers to take full responsibility for whatever Dave decides. However, when Lisa accidentally finds his list of who's getting what, she discovers that she isn't the only candidate for the big bonus. Upset over Dave keeping his role a secret, Lisa then offers to keep quiet about what she's found -- -- in exchange for the $3,000! Realizing that things have gotten out of hand, Dave calls a staff meeting and suggests pooling all the bonus money to give everyone an equal share. What he finds is that everyone is willing to take their chances with his decision, as each of them certain they're the one getting the $3,000. Seeing how to manipulate the situation to her advantage, Catherine claims she doesn't care one way or the other and ends up with the big bonus, while Dave gives himself "the shaft" to make everyone else feel guilty. However, Dave soon realizes that not recognizing Joe can mean real problems for the station..

The Best Comedy Ever! This has to be one of the best comedy shows ever made. Try "Smoking" as it's particularly funny given the interaction of Phil and Dave. Hard to define their style of straight ahead laughs and quirky humor that puts them ahead of their peers. Fantastic cast that play off one another brilliantly. Always humorous as things flow together in great ways. Can't say enough good things..Score: 5/5

Severly UnderratedSimply put, this is one of the greatest ensemble sitcoms ever. It's nice to see this is finally getting some recognize here on iTunes. I'd like to see the other four seasons available for download as this is a show that got better with every season..Score: 5/5
I Love This ShowWhat can I say, NewsRadio was one of my favorite sitcoms of the 90s. It's an amazing companion to Dilbert to the trivialities and humor of office life. It's a shame that it never reached the level of support as it's contemporary sitcoms but I enjoyed being part of a cult following. This season was a great introduction to the gang as it develops into a great show. Nevertheless, the Pilot isn't great and the show has some growing pains but this season had some personal favorites such as Smoking and Sweeps Week. Get it and watch it like I do, when I need to laugh after a tough day at work..Score: 4/5

UnderratedThe cast really puts the show on a whole different level. Phil Hartman, Andy Dick, Vicki Lewis, and Stephen Root especially shine in my opinion. However, the humor is subtle and will be lost if you are not culturally literate. But if you do appreciate shows like 30 Rock or Knights of Propserity, then Newsradio will definitely interest you..Score: 5/5

A genuine classicGreat to see this on i-tunes. I used to live in the US, and this is the one comedy series from my time there that I always urge my friends to watch (I'm not sure it's ever been shown fully over here). It probably takes a few episodes to get into the swing of things but once you do, you're hooked - it's the closest thing to a live-action simpsons (eccentric characters, absurd situations) with a host of brilliant performers (particularly Phil Hartman, Stephen Root and Dave Foley). Try it - you really won't regret it..Score: 5/5
Hilarious!I purchased this on a whim due to its good price (£8 for a series... not bad iTunes... not bad...), but I'm so glad I did. It's superbly '90s, but in a great way. Hartman and Foley are the stand out greats in this series, both playing their roles hilariously. The episodes are original and very different to anything on TV today. Highly recommended, especially if you enjoy other sitcoms from around this era ("Friends", "Frasier", "Everybody Loves Raymond", "Seinfeld" etc)..Score: 5/5
Great but where are the other 3 series?I love newsradio and have both series that are available on iTunes but where are the other 3 series? The late Phil Hartman and Stephen Root are hilarious, the relationship between Dave Foley and Maura Tierney's characters is entertaining. I'm now waiting for the other series to continue the story as I've watched the first 2 series so many times.
