Knight of Cups follows writer Rick (Christian Bale, The Fighter, American Hustle) on an odyssey through the playgrounds of Los Angeles and Las Vegas as he undertakes a search for love and self. Even as he moves through a desire-laden landscape of mansions, resorts, beaches and clubs, Rick grapples over complicated relationships with his brother (Wes Bentley) and father (Brian Dennehy). His quest to break the spell of his disenchantment takes him on a series of adventures with six alluring women: rebellious Della (Imogen Poots); his physician ex-wife, Nancy (Cate Blanchett); a serene model Helen (Freida Pinto); a woman he wronged in the past Elizabeth (Natalie Portman); a spirited, playful stripper Karen (Teresa Palmer); and an innocent Isabel (Isabel Lucas), who helps him see a way forward.
Rick is a screenwriter living in Los Angeles. While successful in his career, his life feels empty. Haunted and confused, he finds temporary solace in the decadent Hollywood excess that defines his existence. Women provide a distraction to his daily pain, and every encounter brings him closer to finding his place in the world.

PainfulNot even the stellar cast could save this epic 2hr mess. Although the cinematography was at times mesmerizing, the narrative was extremely monotonous and down right dull. There are intelligent introspective films and then there is this absolute waste of time and money..Score: 1/5

Christian Bale Close Up With a Wide Angle LensMy review: It's like this guy learned film making from watching Calvin Klein commercials in the 90s. My wife's review: Everyone in this film is dumber than me, but has better real estate. I think the camera man got bored about half way through shooting and was like, "I got a wide angle lens, whatever, everything is in frame. Whoops, sorry I wasn't pointing the camera at you Christian, I was ordering a pizza, do you want any?" Also, some lady below said, "Knight of Cups is like wandering through an art gallery." With the state of contemporary art, I would say that's a pretty good assessment..Score: 1/5
Mental terror!This is an eternal, incoherent picture-salad mixed up with the ramblings of Christian Bale: An Elvis Presley imitator in full Vegas attire, Christian Bale taking steps next to a pelican, a dog hunting for a tennisball in a swimming-pool, a naked girl on a balcony! Ehh what? You guessed it: There is no storyline and it is just a mess. Very disappointing. It is quite painful to watch and I would prefer to watch grass grow. It was actually so annoying that I had to skip the last 30 minutes - I simply couldn't do it! My advise: Just say NO!.Score: 1/5

Not a friend who wrote March reviews - truth - bad artSo when I see the first few reviews of any movie, I know those are family and friends that don't mind lying saying its great!!! aka those that tell you "oh, that dress doesn't make you look fat" . Artsie movie that purposely "did not" want to make any sense. If you want entertainment, then go see a street show in Hollywood, as I am sure your donation of a few dollars will be better spent on art or at least feeding that poor sole than renting or buying this film.
