Ben-Hur is the epic story of Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston), a prince falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother Messala (Toby Kebbell), an officer in the Roman army. Stripped of his title, separated from his family and the woman he loves (Nazanin Boniadi), Judah is forced into slavery. After years at sea, Judah returns to his homeland to seek revenge, but finds redemption. Based on Lew Wallace’s timeless novel, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ. Also starring Morgan Freeman and Rodrigo Santoro.

In 25 AD, Judah Ben-Hur, a Jew in ancient Judea, opposes the occupying Roman empire. Falsely accused by a Roman childhood friend-turned-overlord of trying to kill the Roman governor, he is put into slavery and his mother and sister are taken away as prisoners.

Not goodWhat can I say, the movie wasn't good. This movie tried to accomplish too much in too short of a time..not enough time to develop all the important characters and plot. The FIRST time I agree with the R.TomatoesThis was not meant to be a friendship between 2 brothers story. Sad, because it is even advertised and I quote " Based on Lew Wallace’s timeless novel, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ." So much for a remake, speaking of the one with C. Heston. AND it is not a crime to compare the 2 movies. Too bad, because it looked like there was enough in the finance dept. to make a grand movie. EPIC?! It's worthwhile as a rental or a purchase...This Ben Hur story is not the one in the book, or my absolute favorite movie, the 1959 version. It's similar to the 1959 version, but different. This different version is good too. It's not a grandiose as 1959 version, but still entertaining. I first watched this movie on a trans-Pacific flight that had been heavily edited to delete the scenes w/ Jesus. Anyhow, the full up version injects Jesus tastefully and really adds to this version's ultimate theme of forgiveness. I like the ending, and wonder what Judah Ben Hur goes on to...just like I did with the 1959 movie. A genuine 4 star movie IMHO..MJC.MJC-JejuROKScore: 4/5

Good....BUTLike the title says. I liked the movie enough but I would attribute that to the fact that I adore Toby Kebbelland Jack Huston. Encore!!!Wow! What an incredible film full of thrill, suspense, and heart wrenching plot twists. Driven by deep roots of love and hate, the characters were successful to portray the story of Ben Hur. I absolutely loved this film, and have watched it multiple times with much satisfaction to all the detail entwined in this piece of work. I am also grateful to have found a story that shares a message of God's amazing love (which is quite rare in today's society) and leaves me with a feeling of hope. Outstanding job!!
