Was I supposed to be laughing?For me, this is an unintentional comedy. It isn't good by any means but it is pretty entertaining. I can't speak on the directors cut because I haven't seen it but the theatrical version was hilarious. My theater was bursting into laughter frequently. Not everything has to be perfect you know!While I did loved the story and the idea for the movie. I thought it was very clever about a music box that makes 7 wishes and after you make your wish it plays music and stops automatically after someone you love who is really close to you dies and then after you make your 7 wishes the box then kills yourself. I thought it was very clever!
However.... I have to admit the deaths in this movie were a bit slapstick. (A little bit like Tom & Jerry) I think they could have done a little better than that.
