Pretty badI read a handful of reviews before I rented this and they were so positive, I'd wondered if I'd made a mistake renting it for $.99 instead of just buying it for $4.99. I'm glad I still have my $4 because I'll never watch this again. Describing this movie as sophomoric is a gross understatement. Unless you find dog testicles to be inherently funny, you're likely to be disapointed. I saw some reviewers compare this movie to Animal House and Ferris Beuller's Day Off. I can't agree. Animal House had a plot and it had a great cast. Van Wilder's "plot" can best be described as formulaic. Obviously you don't watch a movie like this for the plot, but when the actors are boring and the humor ranges from potty humor to just plain vulgar, a bit of a plot could help. I'll freely admit, I'm 35 so maybe this is just for a different generation. But I'm not very demanding when it comes to comedy; some of my favorite movies are Adam Sandler and Will Ferrell comedies. And yes Animal House will always be one of my favorites. Van Wilder isn't in the same class..Score: 2/5
