The trademark of The Phantom, a renowned jewel thief, is a glove left at the scene of the crime. Inspector Clouseau, an expert on The Phantom's exploits, feels sure that he knows where The Phantom will strike next and leaves Paris for the Tyrolean Alps, where the famous Lugashi jewel 'The Pink Panther' is going to be. However, he does not know who The Phantom really is, or for that matter who anyone else really is...

Loves it!!!!My dad is obsessed with the Pink Panther movies, so I was kind of relying on his recommendation and not expecting much from it. But it was great. Funny, stupid, sexy, and a real classic.

They "Buy" Available!!!!The crummy remakes are nothing. Peter Sellers is great here. At his best. When I was a kid I was amused by his silly sequels to this movie. They are good movies, but this one is a work of art. Sellers is at his best here. A subtle humor that not many can achieve. And it is well balanced by Niven and Wagner. The writing is brilliant, not having to depend on the slapstick comedy that made the sequels kind of fun to watch..RosedesertScore: 5/5

A classic every comedy fan needs to haveTrust me- I was skeptical at first but I first came across this movie when my dad asked me to watch this with him. I didn't even know this was what the real pink panther was about.
anyways this movie has so many laughs- Sellers is amazing and so hopeless but at the same time you root for him in this movie.

The First, and the Best!The Pink Panther works for me because, believe it or not, there was actual subtly in the comedic performance by the genius Peter Sellers as Inspector Closeau , that gave way to formulaic and self-parody in the later films. What's great about the movie is that basically, everyone else plays the "straight man" to Sellers' lovably inept detective.
The film has elements of actual suspense and mystery, along with the humerous moments, and so we get basically an early example of the comedic thriller that would later become popular with movies like FOUL PLAY and SILVER STREAK.
This classic didn't need a sequal, let alone 5, and stands on its own as a cherished bit of cinema..Robot B-9Score: 5/5

Not that amusing - not really the same ilk as othersThis movie has a poor plot and long scenes that don't really move the story along very much. In una festa in costume, questa volta a Roma nella villa di Dala, i due ladri tentano di rubare il diamante, che è sparito, venendo colti in flagrante da Clouseau, che dà inizio ad una frenetica corsa con le auto per la città. Bumbling Inspector Jacques Clouseau (Peter Sellers) is at it again...for the fifth time.
