Comic icon Steve Martin steps into the shoes of the late Peter Sellers and wonderfully reprises the role of the bumbling, world famous Inspector Jacques Clouseau in this remake of Blake Edwards' comedy classic, The Pink Panther. With a strong supporting cast that includes Academy-Award winner Kevin Kline, pop star Beyonce and Jean Reno, Clouseau finds himself trying to solve the murder and robbery of a famous soccer coach, whose priceless diamond ring known as the Pink Panther was stolen during the crime.

The trademark of The Phantom, a renowned jewel thief, is a glove left at the scene of the crime. Inspector Clouseau, an expert on The Phantom's exploits, feels sure that he knows where The Phantom will strike next and leaves Paris for the Tyrolean Alps, where the famous Lugashi jewel 'The Pink Panther' is going to be. However, he does not know who The Phantom really is, or for that matter who anyone else really is...

Deutsch Inspektor Clouseau ist auf der Jagd nach dem „Phantom“, das seit langer Zeit reiche Frauen um ihre Schmucksammlungen erleichtert. Simone tenta così, nonostante la presenza del marito, di evitare George, innamorato di lei, e di aiutare Charles. In una festa in costume, questa volta a Roma nella villa di Dala, i due ladri tentano di rubare il diamante, che è sparito, venendo colti in flagrante da Clouseau, che dà inizio ad una frenetica corsa con le auto per la città. Così, i due ladri vengono catturati ma alla fine, a causa di un intrigo ordito da Simone con la complicità di Dala, Clouseau diventa da accusatore ad accusato.
