Ten years after writer and director Wes Craven ("Scream," "The Hills Have Eyes") brought his personal nightmares to the movie screen as Freddy Krueger in "A Nightmare on Elm Street," the horrifying child killer returns, stepping out of his celluloid world to haunt the life of the actress who first defeated him on film. This seventh film in the Nightmare on Elm Street series has the cast starring as themselves in a wicked spin as key players from earlier installments are terrorized by Freddy Kreuger and his razor-fingered glove. Starring Robert Englund ("Urban Legend," "The Mangler"), Heather Langenkamp ("TV's Just the Ten of Us"), and Miko Hughes ("Apollo 13," "Mercury Rising").

Cast and crew from earlier A Nightmare on Elm Street installments are terrorized by Freddy Krueger and his razor-fingered glove as he crosses over into the real world.

It's scarier, darker, and more evilThe story blends fantasy and reality perfectly; and gets into the meat pretty quickly. It gives the expected "nightmarish" feeling as the others in the series, only more real and suspenseful. My only complaint is the ending fight scene; seems like they just wanted to end it quickly, without the thoughtfulness that impressed the viewers as it did in the past franchise. But all in all, not to be missed out by Freddy's fans :).Prof. ZScore: 5/5

Not to my likingPersonally I never cared for this particular prequel . But It was really nice to watch the original cast reuniting to make this but the whole thing is just overrated and corny . It was more focused on the little boy then anything which as a viewer didn’t really care about . For what it is it worksMost of the criticism of this film is that it isn't really Freddy Krueger and it is "boring" because of it's lack of kills. Well Wes decided to have his freddy in this picture be a manifestation of some ancient evil because at that point Freddy in the franchise had become a joking anti-hero and Wes decided to create a darker more menacing Freddy and since the franchise had at that point been driven into the ground Wes decided to go with something original and new. As far as the "boring" tone of the picture, this movie was geared to the same people who at the time of the originals release were teenagers but who were at the time of New Nightmare adults who had matured, so the film was more mature and geared to said adults. So if you live the original and wouldn't mind something a little different yet still really good then go ahead and get this one..E.txcountryboyScore: 5/5

An Underrated Classic!!To many people, this entry is either the best or the worst sequel. The story is about the original cast members of the first freddy film being haunted by a "reel" freddy. This movie is so good it stands on its own!.Format916Score: 5/5

Ahead of its time and eerily propheticWes Craven brought the series he created to a satisfying close with one of its best entries. New Nightmare is a spiritual “prequel” to Scream (which he made soon after) and brings back the original final girl, Nancy/Heather to face off against Freddy one last time. This movie was “meta” before being meta-textual in horror was cool. It predicted the “legacy” reboot made popular years later by David Gordon Green’s 2018 “Halloween,” and adds new, mythic elements that pay respects to the original Nightmare on Elm Street films to the point of linking them directly to Freddy’s “real world” origins. IMO the best follow-up and perfect ending to the original trilogy. 1, 2, 3, and New Nightmare is the way to binge this classic series..RobbieDarkoScore: 5/5
