Academy Award, Emmy Award and Golden Globe-winner Jeremy Irons ("Reversal of Fortune," "Elizabeth") stars as Dr. Stephen Fleming, a respected member of Parliament who falls passionately in love with Anna (Academy Award-winner Juliette Binoche "The English Patient," "Chocolat"), the fiancee of his son, Martyn (Rupert Graves "Maurice," "V for Vendetta"). Stephen and Anna pursue their illicit affair with obsessive abandon despite the danger of discovery and the resulting harm it would do to his complacent life, to Martyn, and to his wife, Ingrid (Academy Award-nominee and Golden Globe-winner Miranda Richardson "The Crying Game," "Tom and Viv"). Completely obsessed, Stephen wants to give up his current lifestyle to be with Anna. But she has no intention of allowing him to do this, preferring to have her marriage to his son as a cover. However, they are eventually discovered and are forced to deal with the emotional Damage.

Excellent movieThe top scene of the movie is when ingrid crys at the end of the movie, I really became impressed by extraordinary performances of all actors, the music was perfect, I recommend this movie for anyone who wants a great movie, I will definitely watch this movie again, performance of the actors were amazing. Passion at its peak!The acting is beyond superb! Jeremy and Juliet are amazing. Just the way they look at each other without spoken words. The sex is raw and believeable. Brushfire for the MindThis is a sentimental movie for me. I think I was in my Foreign Movie Romanticism faze when I first saw it. Regardless, every player's performance in this movie is flawless. You truly will have your heartstrings pulled for all involved, whether you deem them guilty or no. I loved it, because it speaks to that which we love to try to temper...Passion. It questions what makes it blossom, fly, and sometimes utterly devour it's champions. It's an identifiable movie about obsession, and yes,...Love. Romantics, covet this..Score: 5/5
Painfully gorgeousWhen I first saw this film, in all of my young woman wisdom, I went away convinced such passion was merely brillaint imagination. I was thoroughly impressed. Recently I sought it out again. Still impressed with the choreography of emotional dips and jolts, I can now appreciate the stark reality this film has actually brought forth. As a well respected member of Parliament works his way through the humdrummery of 'the perfect' life, he is quickly intrigued by his son's fiance. Anna is a mix of melancholy mystery and subdued sensuality. A temptation which the otherwise disciplined and guarded Dr.Fleming quickly finds he can not function without. Without exposing the ending, you can count on being taken on an erotic journey that is masterfully guided by Irons and Binoche. The soundtrack will haunt you; seducing your soul through a delicious darkness as only Zbiniew Preisner can('When a Man loves a woman' 'The Secret Garden' soundtracks). If you have undergone a tragic love affair, watch it with caution; Jeremy Irons depicts one consumed by passionate obsession to a fine point. If you have not, then take note. There does exist, in the reality of day, the intense bliss one imagines to only exist in fantasy. However it rarely materializes without the sacrifice of something equally dear..Score: 5/5
Pan and ScanI was so happy to see Damage available on iTunes. HOWEVER - instantly disappointed after purchase. This is a pan and scan version - which is absolutely unacceptable as the DVD from the 90s was anamorphic widescreen. This classic film deserves better treatment than this..Score: 2/5
