Als Kind erlebte Ben Schauerliches im Marsten-Haus, von dem man sich sagt, dass es dort spukt. Nun will er das Haus als Inspirationsquelle für sein neues Buch nutzen und sich endlich den Ängsten der Vergangenheit stellen. Als Ben jedoch erfährt, dass das Haus inzwischen verkauft wurde und in ein Antiquitätengeschäft umgewandelt werden soll, kann er es zunächst kaum glauben. Bald schon häufen sich Gräueltaten in der Stadt. Ein Hund wird tot aufgefunden, der Totengräber Mike Ryerson (Spencer Treat Clark) weist Bissspuren am Hals auf und Ärztin Dr. Cody (Alfre Woodard) muss kurioser Weise vermehrt Blutarmut diagnostizieren. Hilfe sucht Ben bei seiner alten Freundin Susan Norton (Makenzie Leigh) und ist überzeugt, dass hinter den bösen Taten von Salem’s Lot Vampire stecken.
