Initially laughably bad but ultimately very movingI almost stopped watching many times during the first half of the movie. The acting seemed stilted, the dialog worse. Every cliche imaginable was used, along with hoary movie tropes (all four lead actors drive funky convertibles.) Scenes involving naval hardware were either obvious green screen or clearly staged on the Intrepid permanently docked on the Hudson River in Manhattan. A scene set in Arlington Cemetary had a stock cover shot, then close ups clearly set in a non-military cemetary. Yet as the sexual tension builds (enhanced for me by Rob Mayes' puppy-dog eyes), it turns into a wrenching tale of broken hearts and broken friendships with an increasing number of real moments as the film nears its end. Whereas I fast forwarded through some cringe-inducing scenes in the first half, I didn't miss a moment of the second half. So give it a chance. Maybe fast-forward the first half :).Score: 3/5

Could have been betterGreat message, bad execution. Bad acting, No real action with jets, and it seemed low budget. GREAT MOVIE but could have been better with real money seem to be centered around a 90’s theme even the filming seemed to come from that era just saying a better budget and this movie would have been a top seller..Score: 5/5

Touching MovieThe movie was interesting and touched a serious topic. I thought the acting was very good and that the characters were enjoyable. My only problem was that there wasn't enough of the two navy pilots' relationship. Their relationship escalated quickly and there wasn't much footage to show that escalation..Score: 5/5

What a pleasant surprise. After browsing the iTunes trailers to see what was new I stubbled on Burning Blue. I thought it was well done. It has a good production value unlike a lot of movies that have gay content. The acting was good. Not great but believable. I have to say I was very surprised and pleased with this movie. Well worth watching..Score: 5/5
BadI don't think the movie is worth the price. Maybe if it is was 99 cents. Bad acting and the sets don't look real of believable..Score: 2/5
Effective and sensitive.I truly feel that this movie deals very effectively with the subject of gays in the military. It shows how oppressive and difficult it must be. However, some of the actors appear almost like caricatures, which is the movie’s weakness. Morgan Spector saves this movie. His acting is top notch. He convinced me thoroughly of the genuineness of his character. The ending scene with Morgan Spector was so powerful that it brought me to tears. I highly recommend this movie..Score: 5/5
Not What You Think: Bait and SwitchThis movie is not about a relationship between two men in the service. It’s about the 1990s witch hunts due to the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell law that Bill Clinton signed. That story line is OK and interesting, but you never really see any relationship between the two pilots, just sexual anxiety really. Then at the end the movie rewrites history by claiming DADT was a policy that Clinton was forced into backing and that Obama repealed. Good god, how stupid do they think we are? It was a policy under Reagan and Bush 41. Bill Clinton signed the gay ban, passed by a Democratic Congress, into law and he could have vetoed it. Obama did not repeal it; presidents don’t repeal laws. A bipartisan Congress repealed it and Obama did the right thing by signing that repeal so it became law. The partisan political garbage they ended with really takes away from what could have been a great cinema exposure of the witch hunts that the NCIS conducted back then. That’s the real story here and that story is not-partisan in nature. It’s homophobic in nature and was backed equally by both of our corrupt political parties. Really disappointed with this movie..Score: 2/5
