Just weird.I'm not sure what even to say about the movie. Acting was good, however the story was just weird. I did not expect a gay sex scene to have the movie revolve around the part. Will never watch again..Score: 2/5

FUNny with a twistGreat to see Jack Black do something a little different and a little daring. I thought James Marsden was hilarious and his scenes with Jeffrey Tambour are really funny. Definitely worth a look - you can see why everyone was comparing this to Trainwreck when it came out..Score: 5/5
They had something and dropped the ballThe film starts out well with Jack Blacks character looking towards the 20 year reunion as a means of redeeming and reinventing himself with long lost peers. He thought he could be somebody if he could get the most popular guy of his class (played by James Marsden) to the reunion. The Marsden character in truth is a struggling actor living in LA whose life peaked in high school. Jack Black cannot see this as he has built him up to god like status in his mind. This is where the film loses direction. Jack Black’s desperation (to be popular and the savior of the reunion) causes him to loose sight of both himself, his job, and his family. The gay sex scene between Black and Marsden could have served as a metaphor for how much Jack Black idolized and in fact was in love with Marsdens character. What could have been a beautiful moment of acceptance and connection between the two and a validation of Jack Black (being someone of value) turned into nothing more than a selfish drunken indulgence and regret. The Marsden character comes off as a free spirit, charismatic good guy until the final scene at the reunion where he selfishly and cruelly rips Jack Black to shreds in front of the whole class (telling him that what happened between them was meaningless). It was a very frustrating conclusion. It seems as though the writers did not fully explore or understand the characters they were creating, they didn’t stay true to the character, and in the end the movie just falls apart. Any life lessons were overshadowed by the shock factor and drama that unfolded post reunion. Any emotional connection or involvement that was developed in the first half of the movie was lost..Score: 3/5
