Its got heart!I thoroughly enjoyed Season 1. Writing was pretty strong and the show did not degenerate into just another villian of the week. The star really does a good job of bringing Supergirl's struggle to fit in and find her place to light. The show plays it straight up and I hope it continues to invest in strong storylines that use a talented cast. Calista Flockhart does a good job with her character and adds some anchoring to this ensemble cast. Hats off to the lead though, she is a joy to watch in this role..Score: 4/5

Enough with the politicsI am tired of the anti-American dialog associated with a superhero that is supposed to be an American hero and icon. Why must everything on TV turn political? Jokes in the show about the president being a democrat. The president being an undocumented alien hiding as a human. Getting cell phone calls from Medeline Albright. The speech by Kat Grant saying the aliens who invaded "want to make this planet great again". They think we don't know what they are trying to say? Guess what... half the supergirl audience voted for Trump and you are making half your audience upset. How about accepting Democracy and accepting the results of our election and stop trying to push your political views on the fans of this show and character. It really is a shame because this is a great show. Between the political messages and having two women kiss every episode has become far to over the top and I just can’t tolerate it anymore. I am a social liberal that supports gay rights, women rights but I tend to vote Republican (which is about 50% of this country so I am not a minority). But enough is enough already! The networks wonder why primetime rating points and viewing levels have been getting significantly lower for the past 5 years. People are going back to the old shows and streaming them because the new shows are constantly throwing political messages in our face and we are tired of it. I bought season one of Supergirl and season two. I will not be buying season three. I refuse to be brainwashed. And it really is a shame because I have been a fan of everything Kryptonian for 40+ years. Just when I thought Superman (Supergirl) was coming back in popularity so my children could enjoy the stories, I can't let them be brainwashed by this garbage. Do yourself a favor and stop supporting these writers and networks who produce this propaganda. It won’t stop them and they will never believe that is the reason why the ratings have declined because they think every American feels the same as them. Some Sophomore Bumps but lots of gems tooSeason 1 of Supergirl exceeded all my expectations. S2 expanded the show's narrative reach, but also made it less coherent in its storytelling. It's a tricky line, but one can only hope that its move to the CW doesn't permanently turn the compelling hero's journey of Kara Danvers into just another CW teenage melodrama, with too much of a focus on her romantic entanglements - something S2 had a bit too much of - and not enough on her actual growth as a character. There are some real gems in this season, though, that make it worth watching. Kara's burgeoning friendship Lena Luthor is one: the Super/Luthor dynamic is perennially fascinating anyway, and in this case brings out Kara's best qualities while also showing us tantalizing glimpses of a complicated character (Lena) on her own path of redemption. There's a simplicity to their choice to be and stay friends that's a refreshing counterpoint to the messiness of Kara's other relationships. Then there is the story of Kara's sister Alex, who falls in love with a woman in a storyline that is well written and emotionally resonant. Among other things, the gravitas and edge of Calista Flockhart's Cat Grant is really missed. And I hope they recalibrate the overall tone and narrative more towards the elements that made S1 so successful..Score: 4/5

Like Being Force Fed SugarWhen Calista Flockhart left I should have gone with her! The show is now cringe inducing and suffers from sugar coating everything. As soon as season two opened with Supergirl popping open her shirt to reveal the S on her chest, I rolled my eyes to an audible "UGH".. If they were trying to dumb the show down in order to appeal to a art-challenged conservative crowd, then why the lesbian storyline? You can't have it both ways. And now suddenly aliens are everywhere, in pubs, city buses, etc. I must have missed how the DEO went from being a underground defense organization to the Red Berets of Pulp Town. The show tries so hard to be middle of the road that they wound up just being road kill. But I have to credit the actors for trying hard to make the silliness work. It's not their fault!.Score: 2/5

With a wave of anti-alien sentiment roiling the country led by Agent Liberty (Sam Witwer); and a new command at the DEO, Colonel Haley (April Parker Jones) – Kara returns to Catco, where she mentors young reporter Nia Nal (Nicole Maines), who evolves into a superhero herself.
