Growing pains within Major Crimes become apparent as the division works to obtain justice in a brutal homicide that turns out to be more complicated than expected. Raydor struggles to gain the respect of her colleagues while also trying to supervise Rusty 24/7. The changes within the department may become more than Provenza can accept..

Love it!!!I've never seen the closer, but watching major crimes for their first season I instantly fell in love. It is my number one show that I do not forget to watch. Mary McDonnell brings a lovely character to Sharon Raydor. Sharon an Rusty's relationship just tops the charts in this show. I can really connect to this show. Overall this cast is phenomenal and of course this show is a must!!.Score: 5/5
The Closest!Let's not pull any punches here, if you signed up for this season pass as I did, you are only doing so because you are a big Closer fan and you'd rather have this than nothing at all. The show started as any episode of The Closer would and I kept expecting Brenda to appear at any moment, but alas she never did. :-( Gone are Chief Pope and Sgt Gabriel but pretty much everyone else remains. It's all very familiar but without Brenda's character it just seems flat, there is no anchor and I just don't think Mary McDonnell is cut out to save this show. Her character has never been an appealing one, except when she made Brenda annoyed and got her bent out of shape. And now she's the lead it just doesn't feel right. I know it's early days (this was written after the first episode) but I don't like the new dynamic. The comedy relief of Brenda (and Fritz) is gone and although there are strong performances from the regulars it's just not the same. Also having Commander Taylor promoted to (Pope's) assistant Chief position just makes my stomach churn. The Closer without Brenda, is effectively what this is and it just does not work. I've given it three stars because of the strong performances of the original cast..Score: 3/5
Great show, I'm in!Well we're off to a go start! Yes I'll miss Brenda, Gabriel, and Pope but to be fair we must all give Major Crimes a shot. If you didn't see the series finale of The Closer, I would recommend it highly. My girl Brenda went out like the champion she is and it's been awhile since I've seen a good ole street fight. After the last few weeks she's had I can certainly relate. Sometimes you just get to a point where you can't take anymore and she was there. With her new job in the DA office, they left the door open for her to have a few returns to major crimes plus with Fritz there then you know she will have to pop up every now and then maybe thru a phone call with him. To the future !!!!!.Score: 4/5
I LOVE CAPTAIN RAYDOR!!I was crazy about Brenda Leigh, and when Captian Raydor joined "The Closer", I was immediately drawn to her character. So subtle, but caring, distant, yet concerned. And she's certainly not failed to carry on these traits in "Major Crimes". I love the relationships she's developing with the 'old crew'. Especially with Prevenza!:-) Rusty is a great addition to the lives of all concerned, and it adds a deeper dimension to all the characters, as we watch them draw closer to him. I hope he's around for the entire season! But hats off to Mary McDonnell, a superb actress, and to her character Captain Raydor!!.Score: 5/5
Amazing TransitionI love this show! A whole lot more than anticipated for sure. You can see all the actors are trying hard to give us great episodes. I love the little details that were so prevalent in "The Closer". I don't miss Brenda Lee Johnson at all which amazes me because I did like her alot. It's a relief to have Pope gone - what a disagreeable character! And Gabriel had become such a crybaby, I'd lost interest in his character. Sykes, the new member of Major Crimes, is much better. I wouldn't have believed "The Closer" could continue without Kyra Sedgewick - just goes to show that no one is indispensible. I love Captain Raydor and all my old friends from "The Closer". Each member of the team is so diverse and yet fits together so well with the rest of the squad. Provenza and Flynn are the greatest cop partners ever; I hope there will be at least a couple shows each season featuring them and their misadventures. I hope Major Crimes has as long of run as "The Closer" - if not longer. Lucky us that most of the actors were willing to continue on with another show!!.Score: 5/5

Time will tellI am a stead fast loyal fan of the closer and I think Brenda was the best. At first I did not like Cpt Raider but learned to tolerate her because of her mission in the department. Now with her at the helm I am comparing this show with Star Trek and Cpt Kirk vs Cpt Picard at first I thought this new Cpt would not survive a season. Only time will tell!!.Score: 3/5
It's a great start to a new show!I think a lot of people were expecting this to be "The Closer: Season 8." It's a new show, of course there are going to be some big changes! It continues on from the last episode of The Closer, and it's mostly Raydor, Provenza, the old gang, and some new people. I thought it was FANTASTIC! It was exciting and clever, and there was plenty of action- it wasn't just like Law and Order or anything. For those wondering why Brenda wasn't there: a) I think Brenda was going back to Atlanta or something at the end of The Closer, with Fritz. b) She kinda attacked someone in an elevator (albeit for good reason) and was subsequently fired. c) This isn't the Closer. It's Major Crimes. It was awesome. If you haven't seen it, see it. :).Score: 5/5
