Great Film-Making. Too much sexual violence!As beautifully filmic this series is, the use of regular rapes as a means of providing gratuitous violence and nudity, cheapens this otherwise cinematic experience. In terms of artistry I’ve rarely watched anything better. Fantastic sets, beautifully shot, and an inspiring and epic soundtrack, this is a show one can only hope will shift to higher ground. One, even two rape scenes might have been acceptable IF these were critical to plot development. And even if we grant the producers this as a vehicle for character establishment, the need for excess nudity as commodity is simply distracting. The director has clearly demonstrated his ability to draw us into the emotion of a scene without relying on cheap tricks, so one can only assume that there is a percentage of screen time that is allocated to appealing to those who do not find the production exciting enough without it. This story, the great acting, and even the somewhat lame time-travel conundrums are all acceptable, but I sincerely hope that the producers decide that this should become an epic series, not just another in a long list of shows showcasing graphic violence. There is so much more potential here. This solid raft of actors certainly deserves to succeed. This is every bit as engaging as White Queen. However, to engage and hold an audience’s attention over time it will take more than cheap tricks. Go for the DEPTH and not the DEPRAVATION, is my advice. The writers (producers) want us to believe that the British people were barely better than barbarian hordes. As violent as the English were, and as bloody as their conflicts with the Highlanders were, this series (so far) tries to convince us that about 1 in 3 Scottish/English soldiers of the period were basically rapists. This does not come off as honest. Halfway through is as good a time as any to save this show, and time to re-think the direction of some of this story-telling. Otherwise there have been few series developed that show more promise. Great job, great art. How about some real heart? iTunes has not given us the last ½ of the series. Why? The Finale is about to be presented on Starz Network, and we’re still looking at the first 8 shows only. What gives?? Hoping for a little more light..Score: 4/5

Other than Doctor WhoOther than Doctor Who, I don't think a show have ever made me feel as excited as this one. I find myself pacing trough it so that my pleasure can last longer. "The Wedding" is one of the most pleasant episode I've watched in all of love scene episode..Score: 5/5

Best show on TVI found this show by mistake one day. While at Walmart, I picked up the Outlander book and noticed it came with a free download of the first episode. I thought why not. Got home downloaded the episode and watched it. I instantly fell in love with it! After the episode I immediately read the book and wanted more. Bought all these episodes and more books. I immersed myself in the Scottish culture. Loving every bit of it! You will not go wrong with this show. It is lovely and made beautifully. Almost like game of thrones with a Scottish twist. 10/10 would buy the rest of the shows on here..Score: 5/5
So awesomeIt’s in parts true to the book and in other ways a world better than the book. I love that in the series that Clair isn’t as whiny as she is sometimes in the book. They have empowered her more in the series. And what’s great about this series is if they do change something in the scenes that isn’t exactly like the book I’m not fretting over it because it’s meant to bring the books to life for a different kind of audience than just readers. I just love it 100% and it makes me happy and giggly as if I were reading the books again for the first time. They have definitely casted the right lead characters and they work so well together, the chemistry is just there and that’s what makes this show worth watching 😉.Score: 5/5
Romance Novel Filmed WellIt's a romance novel made into really beautiful cinematic success. Still just a romance novel though. Conveniently woven together storyline so that every woman can live out a new fantasy of being happily married and still flouncing about a beautiful countryside with a sexy broad-armed highlander all while maintaining an "I'm an independent woman!" attitude. The narration is very patronizing and obnoxious…unnecessary to hear Claire's every thought when the filming was doing such a lovely job storytelling. Cheap romance novel flick but done with plenty of lovely cinematic beauty..Score: 3/5
