Passengers Movie Reviews

  • Beautiful, one of my favorites

Passengers has received, in my opinion, unfair bias. Critics took an element of the movie too far, and as a result the box office sales of this movie took a hit. Spoiler alert: This movie is not about a woman's inability to say no. It is a stretch to think otherwise. I'm saying this as a woman, I believe the feminist movement took this movie to an inappropriate level. The main character, played by Jennifer Lawrence, does have choices. In fact the movie is about just that, the choices we make. Anyone who does not see that is not listening carefully to the dialog and is not grasping the true meaning of the film. In short, watch the film, beautiful performances, beautifully written.

  • Disturbing

It starts off with promise. When the main character wakes up early due to a computer glitch, you wonder, ok, what's he going to do? How is he going to handle this? Then the disturbing part comes and you understand exactly what he is about to do! I found it disturbing. His lovable sad face shouldn't take away from the fact that he is a villain. I wish the story had ended with her getting some kind of justice instead of settling for her fate, ending up with her captor because she couldn't survive on her own (which she admits when trying to save his life at one point)... Sad.
  • Good movie

I enjoyed the movie and would gladly purchase it, but not for $19.99. The movie is definitely worth a rent, but $9.99 would be the max I'd purchase it for. Good movie for a date night.
  • A very moving tale

An excellent movie with a great storyline and interesting plot twists. Really makes you think a lot about your own life and how you're living it. The only part they dropped the ball on was by ***not showing enough*** at the end of the movie. They could've shown more of the spaceship's interior, more photographs and portraits, and even the new planet. That's why I give this film 4 stars instead of 5. As for the movie critics, they tend to be right half the time and wrong half the time, which renders their analysis completely and utterly useless -- much like flipping a coin. And they certainly were wrong about this film.
  • BEST

    Great movies must watch it
  • Good Romantic Movie

Simple and romantic movie about what happens when people need each other and seek a life with the person they fall for.... with a space twist of course. 👍❤️
  • Enjoyable

For thoses who enjoy well made ScFi movies this meets the standards on every level, with great effects and realistic sets. Its plot swings between the travelling to a far off planet and one passenger who is awaken early during the 120 year voyage and the mid way disasters that unfold in to a beautiful love story, I wouldnt worry about the negative comments, its a good movie and worth renting, but prehaps not buying, even thought I did.....
  • Forget the Tomatoes

This is a great movie with a very good message. Very enjoyable film.
  • 31% Rotten Tomatoes, 75% viewer reviews

The truth is someone in between. It's not as bad as the critics make it sound nor is it worthy of 5 stars. The plot isn't horrible but there were definitely some wasted opportunities. There was a nice setup to explore much more deeply the ideas of loneliness and the necessity of interacting with others to keep one healthy and sane. The writers did the minimum amount to get their idea across but didn't really dig much further. Personally, I think Chris Pratt is watchable in just about anything and while I'm not a huge fan of Jennifer Lawrance, I think she did a fine job and was very believable in her role. If it had been any other actors, it would proably rate 2.5 stars, but these two elevate it to 3.5.
  • Agree, Ignore the Critics .... they are snowflakes

This is a wonderful movie of human survival and love, set in the future and written from the past. A must see movie!!!!
  • Much better than expected!

Surprisingly good! Ignore the critics. The plot is a little lame, but the special effects are great, and JLaw & Chris are in top form with just enough subtle humor to make up for any suspected plot predictability, and of course you'll love the bartender - a real scene stealer. Most amazing effects are when the ship loses gravity, and don't miss the deleted "taco" scene (you can find it on YouTube) - the look on Jen's face is priceless. And just in case you think you've figured it all out, wait 'til the end - actually the final end. Enjoy!
  • Critical failure - Great Movie

Passengers exceeded my expectations and was probably the most interesting movie I've seen this year. The movie captures the range of human emotions brilliantly and had just the right pace and balance between emotion, tension, and suspense. Critics may say that it's not deep enough and the average movie goer may say there's not enough action or big explosions. For me, this movie lived in the "goldilocks zone" throughout its journey!
  • Absolutely Great!!

Rotten Tomatoes got this one wrong. Great movie!
  • Pretty dumb movie

Really stupid story. Actors got paid.
  • So good!

The trailers are a little deceiving -- this is a total chick flick! However, being that I am a chick, I loved it! There are a few suspenseful moments that reminded you that oh yeah, they are hurtling through space in a damaged spaceship. And I thought chris pratt did an amazing job in this movie. I don't understand how rotten tomatoes didn't give this better reviews. You won't regret watching it.
  • Loved it!

    GOT YO
Great movie done well. Some of the physics are way out there in fantasy-land but it's a sci-fi-fantasy, so who cares. The ending-credits song does not fit at all and ruins the mood. The producer dropped the ball on that. Overall loved the movie, the cast and scenery.
  • Better than i thought

    Nadja Pearl
I dont know what all the negative reviewa were I liked it....emotion invoking! It's a romance in a interstellar Robinson Crusoe setting! Its NOT Star Wars!
  • Please don't waste your time or money

    sci-fi geek
This should have been called "Sleeper"
  • Very Enjoyable

Pay no heed to the nay sayers and haters that gave this Rotten Tomatoes. This is way better than the haters would lead you to think it is. This is a great date movie by the way.
