It has some charm and originalityI saw this film in a theatre when it was first released and liked it enough to buy the Laserdisc a year or so later. (it was in the correct aspect ratio as most laserdics were, you can google that term to find out what that is) I purchased this itunes version today because of those fond memories. This transfer is very nice with very slight grain throughout. The sound track is nothing special in my opinion in fact at full volume on my computer some segments were almost unitelligble. Watching it after all these years I was trying to determine why I liked it soo much all those years ago. I found the Star Wars clone parts to be down right tedious (Like the whole Star Wars franchise is for me), but the parts that were unique to this film remain very engaging indeed. Chris Tucker was the real star here, easily out acting Bruce Willis who came off as pretty wooden. The Diva segment stands out as the most creative part of the film! An alien signing opera, what a terrific concept! Sets for the ship were pretty tacky, (maybe an "in joke") but I'm not so sure. Overall, I'm glad I have this electronic version, generally the unique "highs" really outweigh the lows making for a pretty entertaining experience. Special note for Millenals, I do not use the term "awesome" for any picture and this one, with all its charms is very far from the level of "the greatest film ever". Go ahead and buy it, the price is reasonable and generally you'll find engaging entertainment here..Outer limits fanScore: 4/5

A VISUAL MASTERPIECEThis film is easily one of the most visually dazzling movies I have ever seen. I would love to see this in 3D, ‘cause this film is just eye candy! The design and visual effects are just out of this world amazing, and although VFX has come a long way, the effects in this movie were groundbreaking for its time. Luc Besson created such a thrilling, inventive, and completely original sci-fi universe that is just so darn cool. Bruce Willis is...well, Bruce Willis, which is a good thing. I honestly can’t see anybody else playing Korben Dallas. Gary Oldman, if anything, shows his range in this movie, and Milla Jovovich was a perfect choice as Leeloo. Not only is she beautiful enough to play a “perfect” supreme being, her performance was top-notch: she’s adorable, somewhat odd, fierce, and again, just so adorable in her part. If I have any problems with this movie is these: I wish that Zorg (Gary Oldman’s character) had a little bit more screen time, Chris Tucker’s character Ruby Rhod, although funny, got pretty annoying, and I feel they could’ve added a bit more action. Although I like good stories that don’t just revolve around action sequences, they could’ve added just a little bit more. But besides that, this visual feast is a must see for any fan of science fiction, and is without a doubt, a classic, that will be remembered for years to come..FilmmakerGuruScore: 4/5

The movie I want to be buried with.Best ever sci-fi movie. Poignant, artistic, timeless, funny, bold, romantic... it has something for every generation and worldview to appreciate. One of those movies you have to watch more than once to truly appreciate. Multiple levels of thematic content for those who ponder such things lightly or deeply. This is the movie the director waited all his life to make and you can tell his heart was in it. If you don’t like it, it’s because you weren’t paying enough attention.
