In 1776 South Carolina, widower and legendary war hero Benjamin Martin (Mel Gibson) finds himself thrust into the midst of the American Revolutionary War as he helplessly watches his family torn apart by the savage forces of the British Redcoats. Unable to remain silent, he recruits a band of reluctant volunteers, including his idealistic patriot son, Gabriel (Heath Ledger), to take up arms against the British. Fighting to protect his family's freedom and his country's independence, Martin discovers the pain of betrayal, the redemption of revenge and the passion of love.

HistoryThis is based on real history. And like our friend said back in number 15 comment yes banastre tarleton was a war criminal during our time and treated the patriots in the south terribly. But Mel Gibson doesn't portray Daniel Morgan who was an artillery officer. He portrays Francis "swamp fox" Marion who harassed Cornwallis in many parts of the war then he would disappear much like what Washington did to Howe in New York. But anyways this movie is good and people shouldn't get to caught up in the Hollywood part and ignore the history look at it and analyze it and you'll learn things..3-2=1Score: 5/5
