Staying Alives takes Saturday Night Fever’s Tony Manero out of Brooklyn to Broadway. As a wannabe dancer struggling to make it on the stage, John Travolta is at his sexy, sizzling best. Girl-next-door Cynthia Rhodes (Flashdance, Dirty Dancing) and vampy Finola Hughes (General Hospital, All My Children) compete for Tony’s heart. Co-written and directed by superstar Sylvester Stallone, Staying Alive features an electrifying Bee Gees soundtrack and some of the most memorable dance sequences ever staged on screen.
It's five years later and Tony Manero's Saturday Night Fever is still burning. Now he's strutting toward his biggest challenger yet - making it as a dancer on the Broadway stage.

Criminally maligned film...It owns the gaudy, jazz hands, satin, portion of the early 80's shamelessly but that is no reason to knock it! If anything it makes it that much more an amazing time capsule. I have seen these movie over the years since it came out and every time I notice that I cry during the entire 3rd act (the broadway opening night segment). I always try to wrap my head around how this might be a bad movie and I cannot find it! One of y favorites and not in a guilty pleasure way!.Score: 5/5

A must see...I loved this movie. Although there are a few cheesy little parts here and there, they are very few and far between. The end, which contains the broadway show, Satan's Alley was unbelievably exciting. If only they would really make it a broadway show, I would pay big bucks to watch it in person. I fell in love with Cynthia Rhodes in this movie. She played her part beautifully. She left me wanting to hold and comfort her. I was impressed with John's dancing abilities not to mention his body. However, when he does his solo when performing in Satan's Alley, that was a low point. It could have been better chorographed. You have to watch this, it's worth your time. One of my favorites! This is one of only two films I repeatedly saw as a kid (the other being Aliens). If you like Travolta and the Bee Gees, you'll like this film. I tip my hat to Stallone! And I agree, iTunes needs to get the soundtrack!! Why isn't it available?.Score: 4/5

Not as good as SNFThis sequel is awful. I love a cheesy 80’s movie like the next guy, but this one is pure garbage. The soundtrack is weak, the story is ridiculous. Stick with the original movie it was solid. If you don’t own a copy already buy the soundtrack for the first movie..Score: 2/5
Ok on it's ownStaying Alive is an underrrated movie. Compared to Saturday Night Fever it's a HORRIBLE movie. However, if you pretend that SNF never existed and this movie was a stand alone movie, it's actually pretty enjoyable. The acting is ok; the songs are catchy; the dance finale, while visually strange, seems to capture both the emotions of the protagonist and the antagonist, and it features one of the most beautiful actresses of the early 80's: Cynthia Rhodes. She ALMOST redeems this movie, given her believably emotional singing number near the end of the second act. If this movie was given another title, left out any trace of it's predecessor, and John Travolta's character was given another name, this movie would be good. Not Oscar-worthy good, but WAAAY better than it is now..Score: 3/5

Cheesy 80's is better than no 80'sIt's not a good film. The critics are right. But you know that already. It's still a lot of fun if you grew up in the 80's or yearn for a WAY more simple time. Staying AliveI know the critics have panned this film, but does every movie have to be Oscar worthy? I have watched this movie many times over the years for pure entertainment. The final dance sequence is particularly exhilarating and never gets old for me. Lots of eye candy, too. John Travolta was quite a hunk back in the day.
