Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland), Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds) and Academy Award winner Judi Dench (Shakespeare in Love) star in acclaimed director Cary Fukunaga’s daring new adaptation of the timeless romance. When orphaned governess Jane Eyre (Wasikowska) arrives at imposing Thornfield Hall, she’s intrigued by her brooding wealthy employer, Rochester (Fassbender). His dark moods and the strange occurrences in the house lead her to discover a terrible secret that he had hoped to hide from her forever. After a bleak childhood, Jane Eyre goes out into the world to become a governess. As she lives happily in her new position at Thornfield Hall, she meet the dark, cold, and abrupt master of the house, Mr. Rochester. Jane and her employer grow close in friendship and she soon finds herself falling in love with him. Happiness seems to have found Jane at last, but could Mr. Rochester's terrible secret be about to destroy it forever?

I've Seen Them AllThose who say that this is the worst have obviously not seen many adaptations of the book. This is my favorite book and I can honestly say that I have seen all available adaptations. Actually, I have copies of all of them. (Except this one...I plan to get it for my birthday.) Is this the best adaptation ever? No. For that see the recent Masterpiece Theater. This is, however, the best feature-length adaptation. It is the most true to the book, though perhaps a little hard to follow for those who aren't familiar with the story. Want an excellent version? Prepare to commit 5-6 hours. Want a really good one? Another version is much betterThe 2006 version with Toby Stephens (done for Masterpiece Theater) is MUCH better than this version. While this 2011 Focus Features version is enjoyable, the character development is quite poor relative to the 2006 version..Jake_jakeScore: 3/5

Made me want to read the book!I had never read the book before and saw this movie and had to rush out and buy it afterward. I fell in love with the characters, the actors, and the entire storyline. Though the movie differs slightly from the book, I love the essence of romance that this film captures (as opposed to the more spiritual and at times mysterious nature of the book). His desperation to become a better person through her and her independence and passion are both so well portrayed by these two actors. Immediately became my favorite movie ever!.Maria RicoScore: 5/5

Andrea TorresI rented this movie twice and couldn't watch it because there seemed to be some sort of problem. I don't know if its the movie or my iTunes account (doubt it, I rented others movies and was able to watch them without a problem) so I had to watch it bootlegged online, but over all an amazing story! Everything I hopedI was eager to see this adaptation of Jane Eyre being that I love Charlotte Bronte (and Emily Bronte and Jane Austen)... I had seen the version with Timothy Dalton shortly after reading the book and I FELL IN LOVE with the book/movie! This Adaptation did not let me down!
