An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.

Light years from Earth, 26 years after being abducted, Peter Quill finds himself the prime target of a manhunt after discovering an orb wanted by Ronan the Accuser.

Five stars for the outer space celestial themes...Three stars for the music, and two stars for the childish comic elements. I like the high-tech space themes. It's a team of aliens, rather than superheroes. I also like the cosmic entities. But... 60's/70's/80's hits are cheesy for a space opera. Am I the only one that thinks that? Old hits don't sound stellar. Orchestral/classical and electronic/techno music sound much more stellar and celestial than rock'n'roll. But I guess the old hits are what Star-Lord is stuck with. Isn't space opera supposed to have a modern theme? It's supposed to be like Star Trek and Star Wars. But orchestral music is in this movie. So that's why three stars and not two stars for the music. If I wanted old hits for a marvel or DC movie I'd have it for a down-to-earth show. Old 70's-ish hits is better for down-to-earth than for out in space. Michael Giacchino would do great if he made the soundtrack in his style for this. The worst part of Guardians of the Galaxy is that it's childish and comical. The Best Movie of 2014I didn't know The Guardians of the Galaxy at first. But when i saw this film, i was stunned with the plot, acting, visuals and sound effects. Good Soundtrack, Great Fun Movie!You know a film's soundtrack is well chosen & recognizable when you hear a snippet through a wall from your neighbour's home and know that they're watching "Guardians of the Galaxy". When that also makes you say, "Hey! I wanna watch that movie again tonight!", you know the film is worth five stars. Pure fun, best entertainment of 2014. Chris Pratt is perfectly cast, of course, but don't underestimate the performances of both Zoe Soldana and Dave Bautista, both of whom had me craving more screentime for their characters... like, that Bautista/Drax & baby Groot ending alone is just pure brilliance. Suffers from ExpectationsHey, I get camp, I am a fan of Doctor Who, Firefly etc. but this movie SO did not live up to the hype. It is an ok waste of a couple of holiday hours, but don't let the five star reviews lead you to believe that this is gonna be great. It isn't. Pratt is so lame as the main character, Vin Diesel as GROOT was overpaid if he did it for free, and most of the supporting cast can't seem to decide if they should be playing for camp effect or playing it serious. For me it just didn't work... An OK film at best, go into it with that expectation and you will not be as disappointed as I was..Quiet SundayScore: 3/5
