Visually gripping, compelling characters, secrets, puzzles, and a dark feel that makes me excited to see more episodes. Canadians In SpaceYet another Canadian soap opera in space, pitched at a junior high level of sophistication, from the creators of the relentlessly dumbed-down Stargate SG-1. The premise is old, the stories mush. There's very little action and a WHOLE lot of relationship-building blah blah blah. The sets and effects are surprisingly old-hat and gimcrack, the science dopey even by TV sci-fi standards. It's hilarious that the characters start out not knowing who they are and identifying themselves only as One, Two, Three and so on, because they're completely bland stereotypes. As the season wears on we learn more about them, but they don't get any deeper. The TV-quality cast of nobodies ranges from competent-at-best to the really, really bad actor playing the awful whiny emo please-somebody-kill-him ectomorph One, with some guest turns by a few Stargate franchisers who surely needed the work. We sci-fi junkies of the world put up with an awful lot to get our fixes..Score: 2/5

Very PoorI Have no idea what is going on at the SyFy channel, when I hear they were going back to their roots you would not think they would go back to the time of when Flintstone cartoons where popular. Only watched the first episode so far but I'm hooked already.I can honestly say that I had my doubts as to weather or not I would like this show. I wasn't a huge fan of the show "Firefly" and the trailer made it seem like it was just another version of it. However after watching the first episode, I seen that was not the case at all and can't wait to watch more episodes of the show when I have the chance. I love the concept of a ship full of wanted criminals who can't remember who they are or anything about themselves. If done right, this series could become one of the best tv shows on tv..Score: 5/5

Awesome ShowCan't wait for season 2 to air. This is one of the better Sci-fi's to air in years. This show has a dark edge to it which is most welcomed. This show and the Expanse are two of the better Sci-fi's around and hopefuly the networks give them more then 2 or 3 seasons..Score: 5/5
This one is worth your time...It's not your stereotypical SciFI show - this is more of a mind screw that happens to take place on a ship in space. Super interesting concept (I own the very short lived comic and it was good too if slightly different) that was well adapted to television by its own creators, Joseph Mallozzi & Paul Mullie. If you don't know these names you have lived under a SciFi television ROCK for at least the last decade!(thank you gentlemen for Stargate, thank you very very much!) I think the biggest issue with people walking into this show was their expectations - they expected something like Stargate. In a way it is - the vibe is familiar and warm (and some of the guest stars - David Hewlett) but Dark Matter is NOT Stargate. If you can put that out of your mind, then you've got it. It's similar to Killjoys, but not at the same time. If you like Killjoys you will probably like this too. If you like ensemble cast shows (Universe or Atlantis like shows) this one is for you too because the emphasis is on the characters. It's character driven plot and it's something Mallozzi does really well. I'm anxiously awaiting season 2!.Score: 5/5
