Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Description

“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.
Holding a mysterious leather suitcase in his hand, Newt Scamander, a young activist wizard from England, visits New York while he is on his way to Arizona. Inside his expanding suitcase hides a wide array of diverse, magical creatures that exist among us, ranging from tiny, twig-like ones, to majestic and humongous ones. It is the middle of the 20s and times are troubled since the already fragile equilibrium of secrecy between the unseen world of wizards and the ordinary or "No-Maj" people that the MACUSA Congress struggles to maintain, is at risk of being unsettled. In the meantime, the voices against wizardry keep growing with daily protests led by Mary Lou Barebone and fuelled by the increasing disasters ascribed to a dark wizard, Gellert Grindelwald. At the same time, by a twist of fate, Newt's precious suitcase will be switched with the identical one of an aspiring No-Maj baker, Jacob Kowalski, while demoted Auror, Tina Goldstein, arrests Newt for being an unregistered wizard. To make matters worse, with the suitcase in the wrong hands, several creatures manage to escape to unknown directions. Before long, this situation will catch Senior Auror Percival Graves' attention who will target both Tina and Newt amid panic caused by an invisible, devastating and utterly unpredictable menace that still wreaks havoc in New York's 5th Avenue. Is there a hidden agenda behind Graves' intentions and ultimately, what will happen to the remaining magical creatures still loose in the streets?
In 1926, Newt Scamander arrives at the Magical Congress of the United States of America with a magically expanded briefcase, which houses a number of dangerous creatures and their habitats. When the creatures escape from the briefcase, it sends the American wizarding authorities after Newt, and threatens to strain even further the state of magical and non-magical relations.

Okay, I like Rowling and her novels. But unfortunately this film wreaks with terrible characters, the one who bugs me the most being the female president. *spoilers* First she tries to kill Newt and Tina and destroy all of his work. DESTROY WORK THAT COULD BE USED TO EDUCATE OTHERS! Really, really stupid on her part. And the 2nd thing that bothers me is how she ordered the wizard officers to kill the teen guy. He needed a friend, he was hurting, and as president, what does she do? She kills him! Murders him! Because of fear! She needed to step off her high tower of pride and realize that maybe they should help this kid. Follow Newt and Tina's example. To late though, you acted rashly and killed him. A KID WHO WAS A MIRACLE TO SURVIVE IN THE FIRST PLACE. Great example to your fellow wizards on how to act in times needing wise judgement. Overall, if you have nothing else to do or nothing more exciting to watch, then by all means watch this. But if you want to watch madame president ERASE A GUYS MIND (not because he earned people's trust or because he never blabbed about the wizards throughout the entire film, thus eliminating the best 24ish hours of a mans life) but because of her stupefied fear. Honestly as a woman I wish she was shown as more, I don't know, human. More caring about others then about herself, especially about other people. But oh well, watch away and see her abuse her power. Here finishes my rant, enjoy the show.

Pretty good, although it's the worst film in the wizarding world so far. Not saying it's bad, they are all good but it could have been a lot better.

This was a really bad movie. I could not even get through the entire movie. No comparison to the HP franchise. Waste of a rental fee. Any chance of a refund or replacement rental?

Strange plot where the lead gets buried. The main plot has nothing to do with a magical beast. Dan Folger steals the show as his character is the only interesting one. Very strange all around and incrediabley boring.

I liked the movie, don't get me wrong. The CGI was great in my opinion. It's just that when I saw the trailer, I heard the words "Albus Dumbledore," and then that got my hopes up. So I searched on the web, "is Albus Dumbledore in fantastic beasts?", and I saw millions of things like, "Albus Dumbledore will be in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them!". And now that I saw this movie, I'm very, very, very disappointed.(Sorry I had to put 3 stars!)

I liked it as did my partner. Regarding film, I can be quite picky as to what I like but Magnificent Creatures makes my list. Great actors, the storyline with excellent set design and well done CGI made this film a great flick; all ages would enjoy. Light hearted comedy (Giggle Water!) mixed with some dark scenes with interesting critters !

The Harry Potter world if very important to me, I was very sad to see it end with the final chapter of the HP saga. This movie takes place before Harry Potter which I think is awesome! I hope they keep the world alive with these movies. -- I really like this movie, the ending is okayish I think it could have been a little more classy like the HP evils that lay in its time. But the characters are great especially the main protagonist. The "beasts" are just phenomenal, they are so majestic and bizarre! I can't wait to see how saga unfolds inside the Harry Potter universe! Keep it up J.K. Rowling!

This movie was horrible. No character development, horrible plot, awkward graphics, weird dialogue. It felt like the National Treasure 2 to the HP series without Nick Cage to make fun of. Anything above a 2-star review is based on pure excitement for another HP-universe film. Dear JK, quit while you're ahead. I am embarressed to be an HP fan after seeing this film.
