Really Awesome!My mom and I saw this season when it started and we loved it, the story,the acting and the directing are excellent, Kiefer Sutherland does a great job. The Best Day A Man Can HaveDay 4 is, dare I say it, the best season of 24 ever. Period. End of review. Ok, so I want to go on a little more. After the dissappointment that was Day 3, the creators and writers behind TV's most exciting and entertaining drama went back to the drawing board. What they came up with was nothing short of brilliant. Where as Day 3 suffered from too many cliffhangers and long waits between episodes, Day 4 was the first season of 24 to play back to back episodes all Spring. At the time, it was revolutionary and too good to be true. Now, it's par for the course. What made Day 4 so good wasn't the broadcast strategy though. It was the change of pace. In previous seasons of 24, there was always a chain of bad guys that led up to the last episode. But for Day 4, all that changed. Jack was faced with his biggest challenge yet: a terrorist as talented and clever as he was. Habib Marwan (played by the devilishly mysterious and yet ominous Arnold Vosloo) came at a time when Jack seemed fallible only by his own mistakes. But Habib Marwan was a determined villain and the only to last as a villain on the loose for the entire season. Marwan was also the most successful villain in 24's history, but I can't tell you why. He put Jack thru his paces all season long, and it took it's toll on Jack. Day 4 also brought back the enthralling chemistry between Tony Almeida and Michelle Dessler, this time causing a negative reflection on Jack that frightened Jack's new love, Audrey Raines. The relationship between Jack and Audrey, was a major story of the season, with Audrey slowly discovering the horrifying and terrible lengths Jack is willing to go to in order to protect this country. Jack's dark side is one careful display in Day 4, as he swings back and forth from the man he was in Day 2 and the man he is trying to be. Also listed under the changes of pace, is the turning away from cliffhanger endings. In Day 4, the creators let longer storyarcs, with multiple viewpoints, tell a much more complicated and interesting story. The events feel more logical, and the suspense more natural and genuine than in previous seasons. Before, 24 was entertaining because of it's lack of restraint but in Day 4, it's entertaining because of the restrained, deeper storytelling. Day 4 could also be called the most impactful season of 24 ever. Events of the previous 3 seasons fed so well into Day 4 that it created a few key events, and introduced some very important new characters that were destined to shape the future of the show. Of special note is the covert raid on the Chinese Embassy led by Jack that goes terribly awry and starts a chain reaction of events that changed the landscape of 24 forever. Or at least until the movie comes out. So in conclusion: best. season. EVER..Score: 5/5
Jack Bauer at his bestDay 4 is Jack Bauer at his best. It is my favorite season of 24 because of the action, the ending, and Habib Marwan. He may be an evil SOB terrorist, but when it comes to attacking a nation, he is a genius. Can you imagine what the implications would be if Marwan had succeeded fully in all of his attacks? That's why I like Day 4 the best..Score: 5/5
