Bennie, the cantankerous owner of a Bennie's Junk n' Stuff, is talking to his assistant. He tells the reluctant young man to set up trans around his property to protect against intruders, and though concerned about the danger, Hector dutifully obliges. Later that evening, Hector's fears turn out to be well-founded: an armed intruder sets off a trap, and ends up with a fatal gunshot to the chest. While examining the crime scene the next day, Monk makes some important discoveries and realizes that the intruder must have had an accomplice. Natalie also spots something of interest: a painting set, complete with a stack of blank canvases. Since Dr. Kroger had only that morning suggested that Monk pick up a new hobby, Natalie urges him to buy the paint set and Bennie the Junkman makes an offer they can't refuse..

One of the Best Shows EverMonk is such a sympathetic character you are bound to enjoy watching his quirky lifestyle and brilliant attention to detail. It is amazing how a show with murder and crime can make you feel so good. His innocence is refreshing, as is the funny and lighthearted mood of this show. Excellent detective programWow! Monk is the best detective-crime drama, at least that I have ever seen! Tony Shalhoub portrays Monk very well, a brilliant detective with OCD. Monk ties in personal struggles such as Monk losing his wife, with brilliant crime solving. Some of the episodes are very intricate and tie in amazingly at the end. Personally, I prefer seasons 4, 5, and 6 to the first 3 as I feel the quality of the writing has improved, and I prefer Natalie's character to Sharona's. If you don't watch Monk, you should!.Score: 5/5
4.5 stars is not an even number"Mr. Monk is Up All Night" is the best episode this season so far! Before that is was "Mr. Monk and His Biggest Fan" followed by "Mr. Monk and the Rapper," then "Mr. Monk and the Bad Girlfriend." Wait a minute. Nearly all of the shows this season have been great. I could have done without the 'Naked Man' episode. What makes the shows so entertaining is the comedic irony of real situations. Cases that stump the audience are solved by plausible means give the same clues presented to the police force. I was totally stumped until the end of the show in "Mr. Monk is Up All Night." Keep up the good writing. This is the best season ever. Monk's friend Hal, would be happy if he weren't behind bars..Score: 5/5

Back To Its Roots!I am very pleased with this season of Monk so far! In season 5, Monkishness was replaced, in some ways...too many ways, with childishness, and the mysteries were given away before the story began. However, the comedy is back and the mysteries are back! Season 5 left me wondering whether Monk was going to fizzle, but if things keep going as they are, Monk might as well be on for another 5 years because its getting better and better! If I had one suggestion, it would be to bring in some information about Trudy. What about that trip to New York that they all took to find information about Trudy's murderer? Where did that lead them, and what is the next step? Keep the overarching story flowing..Score: 4/5
