Late at night, a young woman named Vickie frantically buzzes the intercom of a palatial beach house, imploring the owner to let her in. She's holding a manila envelope. Vickie turns around to find someone she recognizes wielding a knife at her. The unseen individual chases Vickie down a steep embankment behind the house and stabs her to death beside a rundown trailer on the beach – a nude beach. The killer proceeds to take the envelope from Vickie's dead hands. At the crime scene, Natalie, Capt. Stottlemeyer, and Lt. Disher attempt to distract Monk from seeing the naked bystanders. They're temporarily successful, and Monk is able to deduce that Vickie was clutching something when she died....

Better than Ever!I envy you if you you're new to Monk because you still have six great seasons ahead of you to watch. They can't make these fast enough for me, and each season is better than the last. The sixth season develops several of the characters more subtly than previous ones; the Captain takes on more dimensions, as does Natalie. As in Season 5, the darker, less endearing side of Monk's personality comes to the fore increasingly often. Monk's quirks begin to border on uncomfortable prejudices, not just phobias..Score: 5/5

Back To Its Roots!I am very pleased with this season of Monk so far! In season 5, Monkishness was replaced, in some ways...too many ways, with childishness, and the mysteries were given away before the story began. However, the comedy is back and the mysteries are back! Season 5 left me wondering whether Monk was going to fizzle, but if things keep going as they are, Monk might as well be on for another 5 years because its getting better and better! If I had one suggestion, it would be to bring in some information about Trudy. What about that trip to New York that they all took to find information about Trudy's murderer? Where did that lead them, and what is the next step? Keep the overarching story flowing..Score: 4/5

Monk rushes to a pay phone and reports the crime but by the time Stottlemeyer and the police arrive on the scene, there is no body, no blood and no sigh of a struggle. Stottlemeyer thinks that Monk, in his sleep-deprived state, is seeing things and suggests that Monk go to a bar, have a drink and get some sleep.
