Responding to a break-in at Stagg Industries, Batman rescues a security guard named Rex Mason (Adam Baldwin) who had been exposed to a weaponized toxic gas called Project Metamorpho. Soon, Rex begins to mutate, with the ability to control the elements in his own body. Terrified and unable to control his new abilities, Rex becomes a fugitive. Realizing that this metamorphosis is slowly killing Rex, Batman sets out to find a cure. But Rex is only concerned about the woman he loves – Sapphire Stagg (Emmanuelle Chriqui) – and he'd risk all of Gotham to be with her. But her father – Simon Stagg (Jeff Bennett) – holds secrets of his own and will do anything to keep them apart..

Good narratives involving toned-down villains of a darker era….One only has to look to many of the modern graphic novels/narratives of the Dark Knight to know how much tamer the lesser-known gallery of villains had to be made to make this show viewable to a wider audience (e.g. Grant Morrison's Professor Pyg and Mr. Toad). This, however, does not ruin the narrative effect of the characters however, and the interwoven stories are told effectively, yet succinctly. If the writers of the show can continue to build on the foundation they've set from even only these first 7 episodes, this show could possibly become something of a nice complement for the first time in a long while to the classic Batman: TAS that we all remember so well, not without a bit of nostalgia..Score: 5/5

So far so goodFavorite Batman is the animated series circa 1992-1998 Kevin Conroy. Getting used to the CGI animation now since that is what we see in theatres these days. Hope to see Batman's usual suspects; Joker, Penguin etc. Good writing and story telling. DC has always showed lots of liberty in the comics stories so why not the animated features too? If you can predict how the stories will go, it's far less interesting. Let's see where the series goes..Score: 4/5
Next in line after Batman TASNow, I'm a huge fan of Batman the Animated Series and almost everything Bruce Timm has produced for DC Universe Animated. So, as you would expect I was very skeptical about this new series since he (Bruce Timm) wasn't involved. But since I'm a huge Batman fan I gave it a chance, and oh boy I haven't been let down at all. Now, don't get me wrong. There were some jagged pills to swallow, but I decided to approach it with an open mind and see how they made these new approaches work. Let's just say I've quickly learned to love it all and think this universe in someways could be argued as better and more believable and dare I say relatable. In summary, this Batman series stands up on its own and might just be the best animated Batman since Batman the Animated Series..Score: 5/5
