It began like the common cold. Then fever, baseball-sized black swellings on the neck, coughing of blood. Few lived more than two days. The year--1347. It was history's worst biological disaster and almost half of Europe's population died within three years. Visit the plague ships' rat-infested holds, witness the terror that swept through the towns, and walk with the religious flagellants. Follow a princess as she travels into the center of the plague, a doctor who struggles to understand what is happening, and a Jewish merchant caught up in violent attacks. Hear the actual words of the victims, taken from diaries and journals. From the Pope's palace to the humble huts of medieval peasants, watch as people live and die in the unforgiving grip of fear and death, and wonder how we would act if such a terrible event happened today..

Great ShowsFirst I have to say that the price is not too much. when you add 1.99 and 3.99 together with over 100 episodes you find that is the correct price. Anyway you can just buy the shows separately. I love the shows on The History Channel, very informative and worth the price..Score: 5/5

PriceI agree , for me, the price is a little steep. But for individual shows $3.99 not bad. Also to rate it based on price alone is ridiculous. As for the few i purchased, i have enjoyed. I would probably give it a 5 if i could afford to watch all of them. Lol..Score: 4/5
I do like this show...a little pricey but still good....I just have to make a comment on two of the shows...the Titanic ones.....something that REALLY bothers me. They keep mentioning there wasn't enough lifeboats...everybody complains about that.... BUT..they are forgetting something....how many lifeboats they had didn't matter...if they had have had enough...half of them would have gone down still attached to the ship. The crew barely had time to get the lifeboats they had off the ship before it sank. As it was, they had a swamped boat and an overturned boat. Those were the last two to be freed. If there had been more...the crew wouldn't have had time to free them..and the crew that survived probably would have died trying. The Titanic simply sank TOO quickly. So anyway, that's what I have to say.....it's just something that bothers me everytime people emphasize the blasted lack of boats theory. That really didn't matter. Besides..can you imagine how bad White Star Line would have looked had half the boats gone down with the ship? That would have been bad for the surviving crew....not that it would have been their fault....they just didn't have the manpower to get the boats off quickly....therein lies the problem..Score: 5/5

Superstorm 2012 (e158) - GLOBAL WARMING PROPAGANDADon't buy episode 158, Superstorm 2012. I was looking to educate myself with some real scientific explanations and information, instead I was inundated with left wing global warning propaganda the entire time. This may be the worst piece that History Channel has created; there is no story or stories of people, there is no data or information that we all didn't hear about on our own local news channels, and there is no insight from experts, scientists, or meteorologists. Instead History Channel drug the bottom of the barrel with school teachers from community colleges, Al Gore global warming activists, and the Brits telling us we should look to them for engineering direction. I hope this is not the direction of the History Channel, if it is they will have lost a loyal customer..Score: 1/5
Where are all the older shows?I love watching the History Channel and most of its programming including all these new reality shows that are on now. While shows like Axe Men, Swamp People, and American Pickers are good in their own right by displaying what I like to call some true modern/contemporary Americana it does leave me wondering... WHERE ARE THE OLDER HISTORY PROGRAMS?!?!?! Like Rome: Rise and fall of an Empire, Civil War Journal, The True Story of Alexander the Great, The War of 1812, Boudicca: Warrior Queen, etc. All these and more were great in my opinion and were what helped me get interested in pursuing a career in History. Lots of flash, not much substance...The History Channel Specials are a weird mix of science, history, pseudo-science and conspiracy theories. It's obvious that more emphasis has gone into the entertainment value than education, as the viewer is bombarded with snippets of info (some of which is questionable) without much explanation. This has resulted in inconsistant quality of the specials. For example: "Crash: The Next Depression" offered a clearer explanation of the financial crisis than the equivalent Frontline episode and was a quality show on its own. Whereas "The Gates of Hell" was disjointed and boring, leaving the viewer with more questions than answers. I recommend this series for those who think "Ghost Hunters" are real..Score: 3/5
