There are six places on Earth believed to be actual entrances into Hell. They include a volcano in Iceland, a cave in the jungles of Central America, and a lake of fire in Africa. According to ancient myth and Christian legend, each is a passage to a terrifying underworld for the damned. Even today, some believe they are still portals. Eerily, they share striking similarities. We'll visit these six locations, and along the way, reveal how the concept of Hell emerged in history and why it still evokes fear today..

Where are all the older shows?I love watching the History Channel and most of its programming including all these new reality shows that are on now. While shows like Axe Men, Swamp People, and American Pickers are good in their own right by displaying what I like to call some true modern/contemporary Americana it does leave me wondering... WHERE ARE THE OLDER HISTORY PROGRAMS?!?!?! Like Rome: Rise and fall of an Empire, Civil War Journal, The True Story of Alexander the Great, The War of 1812, Boudicca: Warrior Queen, etc. All these and more were great in my opinion and were what helped me get interested in pursuing a career in History. Please History Channel dig out these great shows and specials and get them on iTunes!.Score: 4/5
Mixed FeelingsSome of these are interesting, but after watching the "Bigfoot" episode, I'm pretty disappointed. The show tried very hard to imply speculation and non-existant evidence as strong possibilities, but only exposed how flimsy their whimsy. Love how almost every depiction of "Bigfoot" potrayed a vicious, wild animal. Drama sells, I guess. In "Afraid of the Dark", the narrator solemly declares "Today, 25% of house fires start between midnight and 6:00 AM...". Uh, 6 hours IS 25% of 24 hours?.Score: 2/5
Great ShowsFirst I have to say that the price is not too much. when you add 1.99 and 3.99 together with over 100 episodes you find that is the correct price. Anyway you can just buy the shows separately. I love the shows on The History Channel, very informative and worth the price..Score: 5/5
Reagan EpisodeMost of these are good, with good historical perspective. Don't Bother with the Reagan Documentary though, its a pure propaganda peice. Most Scientists and Religious Experts AgreeI just watched "Seven Signs of the Apocalypse." Although this episode is advertised as a documentary that reveals something about the book of Revelation, it's really just an excuse to cut quickly between stock footage shots of possible global catastrophes and CGI effects. Also, according to this documentary, a common link between all of the prophesies of Revelation exists (and apparently "most scientists and religious experts agree" on this - as the narrator must have said a dozen times). 102 Minutes that Changed AmericaI was a bit disappointed in this. All it showed was amature video of all the confusion. Lots of flash, not much substance...The History Channel Specials are a weird mix of science, history, pseudo-science and conspiracy theories. It's obvious that more emphasis has gone into the entertainment value than education, as the viewer is bombarded with snippets of info (some of which is questionable) without much explanation. This has resulted in inconsistant quality of the specials. For example: "Crash: The Next Depression" offered a clearer explanation of the financial crisis than the equivalent Frontline episode and was a quality show on its own. Whereas "The Gates of Hell" was disjointed and boring, leaving the viewer with more questions than answers. I recommend this series for those who think "Ghost Hunters" are real..Score: 3/5
