More than 350 years after his death, Miyamoto Musashi is celebrated in Japan as a national hero. The ultimate warrior of the Samurai era, his innovative fighting style is still taught and used by martial artists today. In the two-hour special Samurai, HISTORY follows modern-day martial artist and actor Mark Dacascos as he journeys to Japan in search of the life and legacy of this enigmatic warrior. Musashi's inventive style of combat was so effective that even modern businessmen the warriors of the 21st century model their cutthroat culture on his philosophies of strategic warfare. Yet by the end of his violent life of killing, Musashi had become a celebrated artist, poet and philosopher. In his search for the samurai spirit, Dacascos visits iconic Japanese landmarks associated with Musashi's legendary battles, learns the secret ancient craft of forging a samurai sword, and rides in a simulated battle wearing genuine centuries-old samurai gear. He also meets and trains with modern-day masters of the great warrior's renowned two-sword fighting style, and travels to the place where Musashi spent his final, redemptive years of peaceful reflection as an artist and author..

The price of each disc not on itunes is more than $3.99 (the Plague is $19.99 if you buy it online). I do like this show...a little pricey but still good....I just have to make a comment on two of the shows...the Titanic ones.....something that REALLY bothers me. They keep mentioning there wasn't enough lifeboats...everybody complains about that.... BUT..they are forgetting something....how many lifeboats they had didn't matter...if they had have had enough...half of them would have gone down still attached to the ship. The crew barely had time to get the lifeboats they had off the ship before it sank. As it was, they had a swamped boat and an overturned boat. Those were the last two to be freed. If there had been more...the crew wouldn't have had time to free them..and the crew that survived probably would have died trying. The Titanic simply sank TOO quickly. So anyway, that's what I have to say.....it's just something that bothers me everytime people emphasize the blasted lack of boats theory. That really didn't matter. Besides..can you imagine how bad White Star Line would have looked had half the boats gone down with the ship? That would have been bad for the surviving crew....not that it would have been their fault....they just didn't have the manpower to get the boats off quickly....therein lies the problem..Score: 5/5

102 Minutes that Changed AmericaI was a bit disappointed in this. All it showed was amature video of all the confusion. Lots of flash, not much substance...The History Channel Specials are a weird mix of science, history, pseudo-science and conspiracy theories. It's obvious that more emphasis has gone into the entertainment value than education, as the viewer is bombarded with snippets of info (some of which is questionable) without much explanation. This has resulted in inconsistant quality of the specials. For example: "Crash: The Next Depression" offered a clearer explanation of the financial crisis than the equivalent Frontline episode and was a quality show on its own. Whereas "The Gates of Hell" was disjointed and boring, leaving the viewer with more questions than answers. I recommend this series for those who think "Ghost Hunters" are real..Score: 3/5
