Five hundred years in the future there's a whole new frontier, and the crew of the Firefly-class spaceship, Serenity, is eager to stake a claim on the action. They'll take any job, legal or illegal, to keep fuel in the tanks and food on the table. But things get a bit more complicated after they take on a passenger wanted by the new totalitarian Alliance regime. Now they find themselves on the run, desperate to steer clear of Alliance ships and the flesh-eating Reavers who live on the fringes of space. Firefly, The Complete Series Wiki

Great science-fiction show!!!!
They cut a show that had so much promise but was bungled due to lousy time slot and horrendous marketing. At 9.99 it’s a great price for what you’re getting!
This show was amazing. Don’t let its only 1 season fool you, this is a must watch for any space-show lover.
I agree with the fans. This was some of the best sci-fi on tv in a long time, and that it didn't even get a full season was criminal. Great cast, fully-formed characters you cared about right away, good writing with a nice sense of humor. Yes it had its flaws -- the goram lingo got old quick -- but they were far outweighed by its many good qualities. How cornball crapola like SG-1 and Galactica got to run forever and this didn't get a single full season is one of the great mysteries of the TV universe.
My favorite TV show. Worth the money.
Only Hollywood can jack up like this. One lousy season is all we get. Greatest show ever!
Why it was cancelled is beyond me. Of course this is FOX we are talking about, that bastion of intellect and taste. Da-shiang bao-tza shr duh lah doo-tze!
I guess I'll fix n they have y
If you are looking for solid storytelling, engaging characters, and a good time with a bowl of popcorn, Firefly delivers. Be warned, it comes with a price. As the third series written, produced, and directed (often) by nerd fanboy Joss Weadon (Buffy, Angel, Marvel's Agents of Shield, Marvel's the Avengers, Alien Resurrection, Cabin in the Woods...), this is the heartfelt project that created a cult following, launched a movie, and leaves you wanting more. Once you are in, you're hooked, and if you are hooked, you're a Browncoat. Enjoy!
FOX. Nuff said. But really this was a great show. They need to bring the Verse back in some way shape or form. This was the Trek for A new era in TV and may have sad to say been ahead of its time. Great Chemistry between the actors. Awesome visuals. Great story telling.
I love this show with all my heart
If you haven’t watched this, don’t! You’ll spend the rest of your life questioning the decisions of a few old fools who thought to pull the show before it was given a chance to develop. Seriously, RUN AWAY!
Add this show to the long list of shows killed by those idiots who give us great shows just so they can take them away before it is the shows time. Firefly was a great show that was just starting out and had the potential to become even greater. Its short lived life is a shame.
One of the best science fiction TV series I have ever watched! Cancelled after fourteen episodes, but it was a huge shame! I wish it could make a comeback. Hilarious space action, romance, and gun fights!
This show was an instant classic! They only episode I remember thinking was just ok was “The Train Job” the rest were brilliant in my opinion. I loved these characters! I don’t believe in conspiracy theories but I believe this show was too smart for TV.
My favourite show, hands down. I loved the cast, the writing, the cast... every episode was amazingly well done. The way the characters pull you into the story and make you wish there was more... much, much more. Most memorable is the humour. And it only gets better with re-watching. Mal: Fully loaded, safety off. This here is a recipe for unpleasantness, does she understand that? River: She understands, she doesn't comprehend. Mal: Well I'm glad we've made that distinction. No touching guns!
Firefly is an outstanding series that, at the very beginning when first seeing it, those of us who love it now, recognized it qualities and loved it instantly then. It is a wonderful mix of science, excitement, and humour. Though I've watched the series over and over - I seem never to tire of the complexity of the characters. Each of them have truly human characteristics, the mix of these develops each of them to be plausible and loveable and a wonderful team. You might think that with all this compatibility there could be no friction, but wonderfully, there is enough friction to create balance. Firefly mixes recognizable past and character types with the greatly distant future as well. Without the aid of ridiculous prosthesis' the show assembles an absolutely wonderful combination of plot, characters, action, adventure, comedy, intrigue, and suspense. FIREFLY is what Star Trek might have been if it hadn't the breaks to cause it to become the legacy it's become. FIREFLY IS FULLY WORTHY OF MY RATING OF (TEN) OUT OF FIVE STARS.
This is arguably one of the very best SciFi series made! Picked up steam, got going and then the idiot network jerks stole it from the fans. Gone well before its time! Watch it, buy it! Shiny!
Netflix shoudl buy the4 righbts ot this and develop a second series obviously the actors woud need ot be changed or somehow integrate the the originals
Perfect balance of characters. Wonderfully written, witty and funny. Every character feels well rounded, and interact brilliantly with one another. The universe Joss Whedon created was ripe with story possibilities.
why was this cancelled ??
I now have Firefly, on the fly!
this not the complete series there is a season two i don’t know why they are saying this is the complete series I’ve seen eps that ain’t on this.
I have watched shows that ran for 5 plus seasons that don’t hold a flame to this show, so the reason for cancelation must have been a good one, or politics. I would recommend this show to any sci-fi fan and to get closure go to the Serenity Movie (yes the movie has a few incongruities relating to the series, sill good all the same).
Don't often feel compelled to review much, but cancelling this series was a real mistake. Let's hope the powers that be review that decision. Knocks the socks of the script-by the numbers genre that is coming out now.
Wish it was on longer but it is a good series. worth watching :)
Just stumbled across this series on the net during some down time…. Where have I been? Thoroughly captivated by the story telling… Cant believe there is only 14 episodes and a movie which was made over 9yrs ago. Hopefully other people not aware of this show discover this gem and maybe, just maybe, more episodes are made to satisfy this need to know more about the crew…. Wishful thinking :’-(
In my opinion one of the best series/movies (Serenity) ever made!!! My all time favorite - it's been over 10 years and it still often plays on a loop on my laptop. Funny, creative, unpredictable, superb acting, makes dialog a true art form, simply brilliant.
To put it as bluntly and direct as possible, this is one of the best short-lived shows in existence. If you have never experienced Joss Whedon's sci-if opus Firefly, you owe it to yourself to do so. Gripping characters, intriguing mysteries and fantastic scriptwriting go together to form a journey you won't soon forget. You may even find yourself wishing you could live on the spaceship Serenity itself.
Ah Joss you have done it again, first with Buffy n Angel and again with this shiney series firefly, FOX must have been delusional when they canned this, we will have a Season 2 and a Serenity II
I walked into the living room while my 22 year old son was engrossed in a strange SiFi show. Easily board, I started to turn away, but a man in a cowboy outfit caught my eye and at the same time I heard something about a spaceship. My mind froze with confusion. “Is that one of those B rated movies with flying cowboys or something” I exclaimed. My son said “Dad, its an awesome show, and it has Nathan Fillion in it too.” Wanting to spend some quality time with my boy, I sat down and was prepared to just enjoy his companionship…. Before I knew it, I was totally submerged in the show… Five days later, I had blown through the entire season, and wanting more…… I only wish they’d come out with five more seasons. But with Nathan in Castle, and apparently with modern America moving on to other shows, I’m left to replaying this one season over and over again. Yes, I recommend Firefly!
Speaks to the quality of this show, best Sci-fi TV show, of all time, period!
This truely is one of the greatest examples in history, of Television Network SCREW-UPS! Granted, the show should have had a different name; it would have drawn a bigger audience. But, those old enough will remember all the way back to Star Trek and see a long & shamefull tradition of networks treating science fiction shows like redheaded stepchildren. I honestly don't know WHY they even put it on the air in the first place, if they aren't going to give it a chance to catch on. I will tell you this: I wouldn't ALLOW a sci-fi series of mine on the air without a full season committment. Better to go to a smaller network & stay on, than allow yet another bright star fade into oblivion. OK , about the show itsself - it is one of the finest series of any genre that I have ever seen. Look at it this way, if it didn't have a pretty damned loyal following, there would never have been a feature length motion picture to cap things off. Yes, Serenity [the movie] wraps up the main storyline of Firefly. If you have ever seen the TV series Castle, you've seen the rougish writer with the twinkle in his eye, Richard Castle. Nathan Fillion played the captain of the salvage ship in this series. If you watched EITHER Homeland OR "V", you have seen the breathtaking space-...um "working girl" played by the stunning Morena Baccarin. If you've seen the show Chuck, you've seen the ships scheemer, Adam Baldwin. The show is whitty, amusing, stressful in the right places, and is done in such a "matter of fact" realistic manner that you think to yourself "this is how it will actually BE". And it WILL. You'll see for you self if you live that long. It also has a couple of quirks that make the show even more interesting, such as the use of Chinese. You will usually hear it instead of English cussing. WARNING: THERE IS A DISTINCT POSSIBILITY THIS SHOW WILL BE IN YOUR TOP 10 ALL TIME FAVORITE SERIES - don't be terribly shocked if it's in the top 5.
If you didn't read the other 2900 reviews you won't read this. But seriously, basically the best Scifi series of all time. Mandatory viewing for geeks, great writing for everyone.
Bring back Firefly!
Combined space opera with Western folklore - characters were both human and mythic at the same time - place where we all want to live
I only got into Firefly a few years ago, but I heard great things about it one day and impulse-bought the series here, which is rare for me. Worth every cent. (Should have gone HD, but I don't remember that being an option then. I should be allowed to upgrade for a discounted price.) I watched it all in a few days and I loved it. I re-watch often and keep the entire series on my phone, even though it means my music and picture space is severely limited. I just like the comfort of having it accessible all the time. (Though a much larger screen is preferable, especially for first-time viewers!) I think the main reason for its devoted fan base is because of the well-developed characters. When they defended the show and tried to prevent its cancellation/bring it back after, many of them were probably doing it for a connection that they felt to these funny and relatable people floating around in space trying to get by. The Whedonesque sarcastic humor probably had something to do with it too. Joss Whedon has many popular works, quite a few of which I have enjoyed immensely, but this show is by far my favorite (yes, that's a challenge). I hope he stays in the business for many more years. Buy this series! (In HD.)
I hate you Fox.
