Its OKLoved the books. Was hoping for more Lord of the Rings type production verse what seem more like Twilight ( young kids in love tension ) and CW nightly show production. I think the books deserved more, but Terry Brooks did signed off on this. With this said and putting that behind us, what they have adopted for TV is watchable and entertaining. I think many give it a 5 for having waited so long to get it in made into a movie or TV, but a 5 is to much. Strong 3.5 is more fitting ( mainly due to the TV script verse books), but we still have the rest of the season. There is potential for improvement. I will say the sets, locations, and graphics are pretty good for TV series, and it helps the watchability greatly..Score: 3/5
Yeah wel...Watched all of season 1 ...the writing is really pretty bad... on the run and might be discovered by baddies.. but yeah.. lets take a break here and have sex... seriously???? It's like an adolesent boy and girl got together and wrote the series... mostly hormone driven tripe.. not a bad story if you can keep from upchucking long enough to see past that fact.. On the whole , not disapppointed I bought the season.. but Buyer beware.. it realy is as bad and contrived as it looks...Score: 3/5

Just meh.It is not as horrible as The Seeker. But it is not great either. The visual aspect of the costumes and landscape is done really well. But the story ā¦ oh the story .. what an example of mediocrity and bad writing. The dialogue and acting come off as amateurish. Everything done here seems to be written by someone that doesnāt read fantasy novels..Score: 2/5
Lacks the earthiness of a true good fantasy seriesIt pains me to repeat this butā¦ Shannara the Chronicles lacks the earthiness of a true good fantasy series :( We have come a long way with good fantasy on the screen, so its a puzzle why this series is so bling, american (sorry, but the heavy american accents are killing meā¦), shallow, predictable and ā¦. clean shaven. ...this show is getting ever darkerWell, once again a show that LOOKED like it had real promise, is becoming darker and darker. In the torture episode, we never really see tortureā¦only a bitā¦.but we now have a ācoming outā of a key character. The on-going gender optional agenda in almost all modern media entertainment is becoming all-pervasive. There seems to be no escape. 1.5%-3% of the entire population (and only a handful of these, actually) have forced their lifestyle on everyone. The in-your-face nature of this agenda means that, eventually, those who prefer to flow with the plan of Nature for men and women, will be forced to endure watching graphic or near-graphic violations of Nature. Even spelling it out and complaining might soon be censured, in deference to this agenda. This is assured by a rampant social agenda for political-correctness. Itās like moral quicksand that, once you step in it, down you go. The only way out is not to step in it! I paid for the series. I had high hopes. I Thought this might turn out to be a decent show teens and adults could share. It seems this opinion may have been premature? How far from acceptable this show deviates morally, depends on how low their ratings drop. This is how it works. Ratings slide ā¦ and in comes the gender-twisting agenda in a desperate attempt to raise those ratings. Then, a bit more graphic violence, if this doesnāt work, and so on. WRONG approach ā¦ yet, nowadays this seems as predictable as taxes. It is a shame too. The show has some good acting, reasonable special FX budget, HAD some interesting story arcs. Nowā¦I sense the slide down. Episode 5 was the last decent episode that lacked the implementation of the minority-that-would-be-a-majority agenda. Caveat Emptor...this show is getting ever darker..Score: 3/5

GratingIf you have not read the books you might enjoy this show, but all the changes and soap opera notes were very grating. I understand that movies are not books, but the changes to the characters behaviours made no sense. Also, who climbs into a cave to have sex when surrounded by a demon army? Really? The production values were good, and the cast OK in spite of the horrible hacked up script..Score: 3/5
The Shannara ChroniclesGreat tv series, just bought the Season Pass for $20.00 not a bad price, becoming a fan now after Star Wars. Hottest Actresses Poppy Drayton & Ivana Baquero for the tv series, looking for their future episodes. I wonder how many more seasons this series will be? Even though I havenāt read the books, probably will though in around 2 months..Score: 5/5
Pretty darn goodFirst of all, itās no Game of Thrones. However it is quite entertaining and the first episode is very well done. I find the lead actor (half elf guy) to be a pretty awful actor, but hopefully heāll grow into his role as the show continues. The princess elf is a great actress and well casted-her boyfriend in the beginning thoughā¦. is again, cringe-worthy. There are definitely cheeseball moments that make me cringe and my spouse laugh out loud, but then again, we are in our 30s and not teenagers. For teenagers I bet this is the catās meow. All that being said, Iām really enjoying it; itās not low budget and the fantasy element is a great mix of the lord of the rings/the hobbit/game of thrones and vikingsā¦.with a little Dawsonās creek. Looking forward to the next episode. Feels like a movie, so considering it is a show, I give my props (with a grain of salt). Havenāt read the books, but I bet they are great..Score: 5/5

No "vortex" just a plastic door with smoke FX. 1000+ years old cars still on 4 wheels. Well, details are overlooked. As for the rest, there's a reason why its 14+ and not 18+. TerribleI am very disappointed in this TV series. I have read the book and there are only a few similarities. I don't like the new characters added to the TV series, they don't add any value to the plot. I find the main characters in the TV series whiny with poor acting. Also, I don't understand why there is so much sexual under tones and sex scenes. I guess that's how you get the younger generation to watch it. My suggestion is, don't. Simply Wonderful!It has its āTV Momentsā: a bit of overacting, a bit of cheesy writing, a bit of unnecessary melodrama, but it is truly all of these things that give the show its charm! I was hooked from the first episode; all the things that could be wrong are belayed by a wonderfully engaging storyline that draws you in and makes you want to stick around! And the more you watch, the more the few cringeworthy things melt into things that endear the show to you! I simply cannot wait for more episodes!
