Don't waste your money!I (unfortunately) bought the Shanara Chronicle series. I loved the books as a kid but the series isn't staying true to the novels. The acting (with the exception of Manu Bennett (Spartacus) and John Rhys Davies (Raiders of the Lost Ark) is absolutely horrible. Some of the acting is noteworthy bad such as the character who plays Wil. The dialog and writing is attrocious! The series had so much potential. But it's done by MTV - no doubt it is a B level (C level actually) series. Don't waste your time on this stinker..Score: 2/5
Entertaining & PredictableThe acting is good- Grade B. The plot is predictable but keeps one's attention- Grade B. The sets and cinematography are excellent- Grade A. Overall worth buying- B+. The characters have one obvious shortcoming: no peripheral vision! They get "snuck up on" in wide open spaces! Even the elves don't see or hear anything- Legolas would be ashamed! Seriously though, this is a fun show..Score: 4/5

Absolute garbageApple should be embarrassed for having this on their system. Just a ridiculous politically correct version of what was an okay series of books. Bad writing bad directing, and the most pathetic acting ever seen. Apple hates bad reviews for things they clearly think are good, as they keep taking my reviews down. I'll keep on posting. Save your money this is a joke. Deserves 0 stars. The author should be ashamed. The Shannara chroniclesMy husband and I enjoyed the series!My husband did not know who Terry Brooks is he just liked the story. I read Terry Brooks books, and I am happy they realized that his books are awesome! I am sure that Terry Brooks will have more input in future episodes to make sure his books are represented the way he wrote them.I am looking forward to seeing more..Score: 5/5

GratingIf you have not read the books you might enjoy this show, but all the changes and soap opera notes were very grating. I understand that movies are not books, but the changes to the characters behaviours made no sense. Also, who climbs into a cave to have sex when surrounded by a demon army? Really? The production values were good, and the cast OK in spite of the horrible hacked up script..Score: 3/5

Simply Wonderful!It has its “TV Moments”: a bit of overacting, a bit of cheesy writing, a bit of unnecessary melodrama, but it is truly all of these things that give the show its charm! I was hooked from the first episode; all the things that could be wrong are belayed by a wonderfully engaging storyline that draws you in and makes you want to stick around! And the more you watch, the more the few cringeworthy things melt into things that endear the show to you! I simply cannot wait for more episodes!
