A wonderful addition! Glad to see Jon Pertwee again!A BIG THANK YOU to Apple from bringing the Classic Dr Who to a whole new audience! To top it off, several of these shows haven't made it to DVD yet, and that makes it all the more exciting. PBS showed these back in the 70s and 80s, and they edited all the episodes together in 90 minute installments. This is the first time I've seen these unedited and running their full length! Keep it up, Apple! Hopefully we will get some more episodes with the original Doctor, William Hartnell and his encounters with the Daleks, along with with more episodes featuring Patrick Troughton and, of course, Tom Baker and Peter Davison too!.Score: 5/5
WOW!I was happy when iTunes put the new Doctor Who here... this is the icing on the (police box-shaped) cake! I never would have imagined that you guys would give us not only Classic Who, but Classic Who starting not with the Tom Baker years but with Patrick Troughton and Jon Pertwee! Proper startThis series with the Third Doctor directly ties in to the first episode ("Rose") of the new series with the first appearance of the Ninth Doctor and introdues us to the Nestene. I'm assuming Russel T. Davies borrowed for this particular series because he saw it as classic Doctor Who. As much as I'd like iTunes to carry the newer episodes, I think Whovians, old and new, would benefit from a look at the the show's history and how the two universes of Doctors then and now combine..Score: 5/5
This should be HDIf all of the animated reconstructions can be sold in HD, then this serial, the only classic serial to be shot on film (and subsequently, eventually, released on Blu-ray) should be available in HD. In general, the BBC should treating Doctor Who fans like they somehow don't deserve the program. Other than that, it's Jon Pertwee's introduction, so what more do you need to know? CLASSIC WHO is great!!!!!Dear Itunes. I know that i speak for all my fellow whovians out there when i say that classic episodes of Doctor Who on itunes is a great idea! I am very excited and thrilled with the convenience and accessabily to these episodes that i now have, especially here in America. It doesn't really seem though, that this list of classic WHO serials has grown much. Please put some more classic episodes up, especially for the first Doctor, William Hartnell. Finally....It is nice to see the originals again and if you are a fan of the new series you can see where he came from and how he has changed through the years. This episode introduces Sarah Jane Smith, arguably the most popular of the Doctor's companions, making it a special episode of the original Who series. You see her before she became the Sarah Jane reintroduced in the new Doctor Who and her own spin off (the second one) Sarah Jane Adventures. John Pertwee helped define the role with more of the Doctor's ecentricities that were started by Patrick Troughton and expanded upon by his later incarnations. Enjoy it for what it is: Good, fun science fiction. I hope the BBC sees fit to add many more of the original series on here. Auton's Arrive!Earth - timeline - sometime in the 70's. A meteor shower hits southern England. At the same time a strange blue box arrives, and it's occupant staggers out to collapse on the ground. Enter UNIT to investigate these strange occurances. Why have meteorites been falling to earth at the very same location over the past few months? Is the strange figure found during the shower really the Doctor? These are just some of the questions the Brigadier has to ask himself. This is Jon Pertwee's first story, and introduces his exile to Earth, and his involvement with UNIT (previously seen in Patrick Troughton's story - The Invasion). The story is good, and the waxwork figures and dummies give the whole story a creepy atmosphere. This story has plenty of action, a lot of witty diaglogue between the Doctor & the Brigadier (which carries on throughout the rest of Pertwee's tenure), a good solid start to Pertwee's first season. Well worth the price. iTunes - are you going to get any more of the Classic series? Perhaps Invasion of the Dinosaurs, the Curse of Peladon, Monster of Peladon - to name just a few.
