The 13th Doctor Faith RestoredI was really disappointed with the writing last year. Jodi W. did an amazing job given what she had to work with but the season lacked... so much. The stories were just uninteresting . The seasons main villain was so unimpressive , it did a real disservice to the 13th Doctor (who narrow minded people didnāt like of the bat) Depriving the doctors first female regeneration of longtime antagonists like the Daleks felt so unnatural ; it really bothered me she wasnāt allowed to demonstrate she was just as formidable as her predecessors. What a Joy and ReliefAs a long-time Whovian, I was disappointed and dismayed by the uneven and heavy-handed writing in Season 11. Season 12 has been a return to the kind of storytelling that made me a Who fan in the first place. There are engaging plots, great characters with amazing delivery of well-written dialog (Iām looking at you, Sacha Dhawan, and your absolutely delightful scenery-chewing In the first two episodes of the season.), and just enough casual callbacks to long ago to make a Classic fan actually engage in Fandom leaping-off-the-sofa Happy Dancing. While some episodes of Season 11 were very good, bordering on classics-to-be status, I agreed with the critics who felt that the season, on the whole was a bit too pendantic. Who works best as social commentary- WHICH IT ALWAYS HAS BEEN- when itās a bit subtle and subversive. I was afraid the show would fail and give naysayers an opportunity to blame the casting of a female (any female) in the role. Well, Iām afraid no longer. If Season 12 stays as fun as the first three episodes have been, weāre in for a treat. And just for the record and the lingering, misogynistic naysayers, itās long been established canon that Time Lords can change both gender AND display characteristics of different ethnicities. Whovian till I die....I fell in love with Dr. Who in the 70's and have never wavered in my faithfulness. I welcomed the 'reset' feel to the previous season when Jodie took over and dialed back the darkness and eerieness that made up Eccleston/Tenant/Smith/Capaldi eras. It was getting back to a basis on the makeup of the Doctor and his/her companions and how they faced the world and I found it refreshing. This season however, something has changed. Whether it is a propensity to address global problems (climate change, micro plastics, etc.) or just the lack of chemistry development among the characters, the season is left wanting. This is not to do with the acting or actors, but I feel the writing. The Doctor continues to roll through the world and the events surrounding her/him but is feels as if at the end of every episode (so far, granted) there is a mini speech informing us as a community of fans what we already know- the climate is bad, corporations rule the world, plastics in the water, etc. I will never stop being a Dr. Who fan (did anyone else get giddy when Tom Baker popped up in the 50th anniversary special?). But I fear that if the writers of the series don't apply themselves and lookback on what made the series such a beacon in the annals of Sci-Fi, then we might be facing bleak times for the Doctor in which running away in a TARDIS might be the only answer..Score: 3/5

Yes! Back to form!Iām loving this season of Doctor Who and I enjoyed last seasons as well but that was more classics fell where this just feels more rtd years for me with a touch of Moffat. From the Spyfall two parter to the Judoon. Jodie seems more the doctor to me and has been given more range of emotions and darker tones. Every critique that was given from last season seems to have been fixed for example story arc,a bit of moody Doctor and more splitting up of the companions and Doctor more for them all to do. Iām looking forward to more stories and how this arc plays out! Please do not listen to those naysayers, Doctor Who has always had PC story plots, they just werenāt paying as much attention. They weren't told to focus on it as much as they are now, I wonder why, maybe because there was a male lead instead of a female. So now that itās a female they nit pick everything. The naysayers are creating an agenda where there isnāt one, by thinking any person of colour or woman cast is just there to fill an agenda just because they are not a Caucasian male. Instead of thinking hey they earned this role like any other actor.
