Český Tugg Speedman je klonem Bruce Willise, který chrlí kasovní trháky, ale ne a ne dosáhnout na Oscara. Kirk Lazarus by naopak mohl cenami dláždit chodník a s vírou ve vlastní schopnosti hledá stále nové a větší výzvy. Třetí hvězdou do party je pak komik Jeff Portnoy, který má hodně společného se svým představitelem, jenž by rád prchnul od pověsti fekálního humoristy k charakternímu herectví. Zásadním krokem jejich kariéry měl být výše zmíněný válečný velkofilm, jenže během natáčení se něco zadrhlo – náklady stoupají, atmosféra houstne a primadony ne a ne se vpravit do rolí vojáků v hlubinách vietnamské džungle. Na radu válečného poradce vtáhne zoufalý režisér své herce do skutečného pralesa, aby z nich stvořil chlapy. Žádný z nich netuší, jak je tahle výprava zocelí. Během cesty totiž narazí na militantní domorodou bojůvku, která chce proti americké invazi bojovat zuby nehty.

For at give filmen ekstra realisme skal optagelserne foregå dybt inde i den asiatiske jungle. Uheldigvis er junglen også hjemsted for nogle rigtig lede typer, der skyder med rigtige kugler. Og så bliver optagelserne pludselig en del mere realistisk, end det var meningen.

A equipe vai ao próprio Vietnã para realizar as filmagens, mas logo o ego dos atores principais causa problemas. Tentando controlar o trio, Damien decide rodar as cenas em plena floresta, sem imaginar os perigos que sua decisão traria.

Com as filmagens mais do que em atraso e o dinheiro a escorrer entre as árvores, o produtor e o director decidem tomar uma atitude: lançar o elenco principal no meio da mata, a fim de alguns exercícios realistas e sem mordomias.
